The stuff I'm using seems to be very potent, kills instantly and has quite smell to it, I'm going to mix it up in a cocktail with things like Dipel and Epsom Salts and see how that performs. I will probably reduce the strength of the Wood Vinegar down to 1:500 and see if it still has the same killing effect at that rate of dilution. :dontknow:

Joblow,if i had pests i would mix 1-200,if no pests i still use it in my Foliar Sprays but at 1-500,it is said this helps with the nutrient uptake by the leaves and i think just acts as a preventative measure, for me wood vinegar is a god send,it is a very important part of my AP now.

Thanks Dasboot, I don't have any pest problems at the moment the Wood Vinegar cleared up everything that I sprayed it on so it's all OK in that respect and if they return I'll keep using it at 1:200.

I want to try it as you suggested adding it as a cocktail using it in a foliar spay and spraying regularly for overall plant booster and I would then dilute to 1:500.

It does a great job on it's own kicking the plants along and hopefully as a mix it's even better, I'll try a few different combinations, Wood Vinegar & Seasol :dontknow:

And thanks again for the heads-up on Wood Vinegar :thumbright:

They claim that a low dilution of wood vinegar reduces the cluster value of water by a third,[i dont actually know what that means]this enables the plant to take up nutrients more easily,to the point where you can reduce the strength of the nutrient, but without suitable test equipment it would be hard to prove.I use it in everything, chris posted he was getting ready to sow seeds, again its there claim but soaking seeds in diluted wood vinegar improves germination rates, worth a try,i always place two lettuce seeds in each cube, when iam ready to grow i might do two lots, one soaked in w/v then only one seed per cube, the other with two not soaked, see what happens.i did try that why EM but there wasnt enough of a difference to bother with it.

Around $20 I think. Bought so much stuff off Amazon the last few weeks, I can't keep them straight. I haven't been able to get a good test yet. It's been raining daily.

Thanks :thumbright:

The stuff I used killed the bugs instantly and the plants picked up very quickly.

Thought I'd give a report on the Bamboo Vinegar - I got the same stuff that CoachChris did after trying liquid smoke.

Tried 3.5 mls in 750 ml total volume or just a bit over 1 to 200 (unless I messed up my dilution calculation). The information that came with it recommends 1:200 to 1:300 for reducing insect infestation. I sprayed this on three consecutive days.

Aphids - Didn't kill them outright but may have slowed them down. Not enough, they are still spreading.

Spider mites - Same story

Couldn't really see any difference between this and the liquid smoke :dontknow:

I haven't given up hope but this puts a crimp in things. Any results from your attempts Chris?

Mine look a bit more promising. Sprayed at the 200/1 and results look promising. White fly are greatly diminished, will respray again today. Nothing knocks out whitefly in 1 application. I've always had to respray in 5-7 days to break the life cycle.
