Sorry about that, I thought i could take it from my Explorer mail page. Maybe a screen capture? They are progressing nicely and are hoping to ship in 2016. They have added ammonia & TDS functions along with the Big 5.

I saw that some time ago... made a note to check on progress. But it seems fairly expensive and I'm reasonably happy with my slightly cheaper seneye device (http://www.seneye.com) for now (although it doesn't do pH very accurately at low kH).

Have been lurking around your thread Chiumanfu... hoping to do it all with Ardiuno eventually... I'm a novice and don't really understand enough to take it on as yet. But my daughters are a coder and nearly a mechatronic engineer so, like it or not, they'll be earning their keep when they next come home for holidays

Agreed, it's horribly expensive for what it is.

An arduino could do it and cost max $50. The probes are the expensive bits, and I doubt they make them.

FRom my understanding,. the base unit includes PH, temp,salinity, DO, and 1 other. The additional sensors are ammonia, nitrites, etc.
Not as cheap as the one you could make, but for a non-techie like me, I would be willing to pay $500.00.

If it includes those things, it wouldn't be as bad.

When I saw it, I thought you were paying $500 for the little controller box, and monthly subscription for something that can be done online for free. Then the probes were $99-X amount.

It may seem expensive but it is actually very comparable to similar hydroponic greenhouse controllers. Though $10/month subscription for alerts seems like a bit of a gouge.

The cost savings and ability to tailor the system to exactly fit your setup make DIY well worth it. It's never too late to learn how to be a maker.

I could learn how,but it doesn't interest me in the least. I love to build,create, but have never had thepatience for small,detailed things. I love the end result of these type units, but have neither the time nor patience to put one together.

They really aren't as hard as you imagine. The hardest bit is the coding, and most of that has been done for you already, just tweak a few lines, and you're good to go.

Cynically, I observe that countless folk are here with good working systems , and without sophisticated electronic monitoring..

Kinda makes you think that it is all a little un=necessary.. Lovely to sit and study the graphs, but does it give value for money..

Likely productive for a commercial system where a failure, will be most catastrophic..

If I had a little ping sensor that could sense if the flow stopped in my system, I'd have 30 more fish than I have right now. It'd cost me $10 to set up.

pH and those sorts of things are handy, let you know if something is happening, without doing physical tests.
