Hello,

A few partners and I are looking to start up a tilapia pond(s) and ...well probably not aquaponics, but using the waste water for farming fruits and vegetables. Property is already secured and it has good tested water from an artisan spring running though it.

after researching for the last week I now know just enough to realize that i needed to sign up here and start asking for some community support :)

I will start a new thread in "Members Systems" that will essentially end up being the main resource for our project with pictures etc and of course asking a ton of questions!

Video of the property:

Thanks in advance for all future help,
SF

Welcome aboard and one hopes that you can get it all working..

Many commercial A'C systems work that way.. ie taking in fresh water and releasing the outflow..

It will all likely depend upon local environmental rules..

eg. I KNOW a local fish grower who is frowned upon for even allowing his waste to flow into his paddock.. let alone run back to a creek..

Again, so much depends on what structures you plan.. eg using dams would make it hard to retrieve solids, but above ground structure would be good, and thus you could collect all solids for later use, and then just do partial water changes to keep the chemistry stable..

Hi Buidoi,

Working now on local requirements for waste......but it should not be hard to meet as we know of a few that just do it with no regs. keeping it small the run off should be fine for the pasture land, fruit trees, and veggies - I can't see the need to divert back to the creek unless we really scaled up.

Right now kind of thinking a whole 18" deep and using the excavated dirt for building up the walls another 24-30" then using a pond liner. Add a drain at the bottom etc.....land slopes down along creek and looking to keep the first one real simple while learning the ropes.

Do you have any links to the a c systems?

Should I start a thread in the members system section or the general for getting help on designing this?

Thanks for the help!
