Its funny when overseas friends see roos for the first time, love them and cannot understand why we have pleasure in seeing dead ones on side of road.

Worst result was one the bounced several times under a road train what came out the rear of that road train and covered the lil car following laugh! No actual body damage but it was written off because meat was everywhere

I played a round of golf with a road train driver awhile back and was telling me he hit a herd of camels.....lmao...... he didn't realise he had heads and body parts stuck to the front of his truck until he was driving through Adelaide and the police pulled him over.....

A lot of non-Australians don't realise just how dangerous kangaroos can be. A big male can easily gut a human. The local vets around me have been seeing a huge increase in injuries to dogs that have had a run in with a kangaroo. They are so bold, they have no issue hanging around peoples houses, back yards, etc.

And the local smash repairer said he's had a constant stream of cars coming in, there was 25 other cars when ours was in that had hit roos, and 2 weeks later that number was up to 40.

Even wallabys can take a bite out of you! I got this on my arm the other day helping an injured wallaby. It was worse than that, didn't hurt much, but it's certainly good value. When people ask what happened the last thing they are expecting me to say is a wallaby bit me. I'm getting a good laugh from their reactions, lol





Agh! Lol that would have been just a bit gruesome. A hell of a lot worse than the poor owl I pulled out of our front bumper, lol.

The camel story reminds me of rolling into Rockhampton when I was a kid, not realising that there was a wedgetail eagle smashed against the bullbar. Massive bird that was about as wide as the landcruiser bullbar.
I was wondering why everyone was staring as we drove through town. Must have looked like the biggest rednecks...

Never been bitten by a wallaby but I sure had my arse handed to me by one when I was about 5.
Was feeding them when this female got pushy and silly me thought that was naughty so I decided to feed the others instead. She grabbed me by the front of my shirt, kicked me a few times and stole the food. A lesson was learned about pecking orders that day.
Seriously, who gets mugged by a wallaby? (in my own defence, it was as tall as I was ).

Lol Bodgy, that poor eagle, I can just imagine what people would have thought seeing you guys driving past. What a way to see such a beautiful animal up close, lol.

And I think I'll take the bite over getting beaten up by a wallaby, they can be so ungrateful, lol!

It does sound like the McDonald's hot-coffee lawsuit. The lady that burned herself then sued about not knowing it was suppose to be very hot 20 years ago.

The case falls under the same thing as the "Baseball Rule" which helps avoid creating a potential lawsuit for every ball entering the stands and striking a spectator.

A lesson about females in general...

Caught a bit last night (believe it or not on 7) about corporations shifting profits overseas to avoid tax.
I thought the most interesting segment was our tax commissioner (left deliberately in small caps) before a Parliamentary Committee refusing to name the ten biggest corporations shifting profits to Singapore.

There is organised crime and there is 'money laundering' frowned upon by the ATO etc.; there is Tax avoidance also frowned upon by the ATO.
Now because of an apparent loophole corporations are paying *frack* all tax. And to make it worse the tax commissioner won't name them.

I love Glenfarclas scotch... Bought my mate a 30 year old bottle for his 50th and it was beautiful but when he opened it the cork broke. Oh well . I bought a bottle of 15 year old Glenfarclas a couuple of months ago and it opened no problem, but then over the past 2 weeks I bought an 8 year old and a 25 ear old bottle and with both these, the corks broke..
Thats 3 out of 4 bottles I've seen opened where the corks just fall apart. Yet in my living memory of spirit drinking, and bottles that are corked, i don't remember any corks ever breaking in the past with other brands.

Kind of sucks for a top shelf single malt...

As I've typed this I've realized the absolute absurdity of my whinge for the day, being so....... First world.......

*Spoken in posh English accent* Damn, that's the third bottle of single malt with a poor quality cork...

In Jerez in southern Spain we toured the Sherry Houses.They swap barrels with the whiskey makers.
The respect with which they treated the, ‘Angels Share’ was considerable.

We've got bottles of wine at work that are horribly old, used for cooking.

The corks on them are usually fragile, and we cheer when they come out whole.

I think it's caused by the bottle not being stored on it's side, the cork needs moisture from the liquid to stop it falling apart.

Yes, I knew this about ine and wondered about whisky except the research I did last night said that spirits should not be stored on their side, they dissolve the cork over time.

Titus, theres a great Scottish movie called "the angels share", well worth a watch..

Are they stored in the kitchen Colum, temperatures going up and down also cause havoc.

You know when you don't think our government can sink any lower, they go and turn the border police into the Gestapo, going around and asking people for their papers. Just randomly wanting to ask anybody who looked ethnic for their visas. Who the hell carries around a visa, and for the minute fraction of the population, they'd have to ask 10,000 people before they get lucky and find somebody who's trying to make a living in our country without a piece of paper.
