Hi Guys,

Day before yesterday I noticed a small silver shark was dead and was floating. I checked Ammonia was reading 1 PPM. I did 75% water change and didn't feed them for the day. And yesterday too I gave them very small amount of food. And today I checked Ammonia 0 PPM.

So what really happened? Why there was an Ammonia spike. I didn't feed them more. I feed them just once a day and I don't just throw the food in. I have a tea spoon to measure the food quantity. And I gave them just a tea spoon food.

I don't know if the dead fish caused Ammonia Spike. But why did my fish die in the first place?

It's very sad that I am clueless about my fish death.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

The dead fish probably caused the ammonia spike. You'll probably never know what caused the fish to die, they do that sometimes and often it's difficult to tell what happened. Occasionally you might be able to tell if the fish only recently died or is still in the process.
