Looking for some tips on organizing seeds. Are there containers that are especially good for this? I assume storing seeds requires cool, dry, and darkness?

How do you all keep your seeds organized and stored?

I keep mine in a wooden box that is divided into 4 slots (I use roughly as seasons). They are stored in either little paper, foil or plastic envelopes. Seems to do the trick.

Derp. I searched only a little before posting... dunno how I missed the thread that Charlie linked.

I like the 3-ring binder idea that Colum used. Right now I have a similar system to what mudeye showed... just a plastic box with a ton of seed packets stuffed inside. Part of the problem is that none of the seed companies can agree on a size for the little paper packets. I might end up with the film cannister idea as those are airtight and will protect the seeds from any UV light as well.

As well as this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GOY6F0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

I have some scrap 5mm plywood i will just make a small box to hold the rack of tubes and keep the light off it.

i place mine in plastic bags (zip seal coin bags) and store them in the refrigerator (at 4degC) i write the name and date when i collected them on the bag with a black marker. They last a long time this way.
