NASA called. They said this thread was the only one they have seen that was visible from space. I had to explain to the crew of the ISS what a 'yabbie' was, they did say it needs a bit of colour though..... :D

Next time you post a picture make sure it is around 640x480 in size. It just fits on my screen, but everyone else would have a bit of scrolling to do :) ....

Asitis I am waiting for MOH airborn.

Timc, sorry about the picture size will do better next time.

MF, The fish tank is 3000 lts and has a concaved bottom with the drain in the middle with a pvc pipe coming down and out of the drain. this is where the pump will attach. Same for the Yabbie tank it is 1000lts.

AP - I would aim to turn over the combined volume of the tank and sump about once every hour (some do it more frequently and others do it less).

The sump needs to hold enough water to fill the beds on the flood cycle, the pipes, as well as enough to keep the pump coverred and allow for transpiration and evaporation drop (don't want to have to top up every couple of days). This sump size issue is one of the reasons for having stepped grow-beds or having a system like Les' which uses actuators to fill the beds in sequence.

Jamyie I have enough pixel dust in my head lol. Les luv your humour. I will need to talk to you anout your acuators and filling growbeds in sequence. VB I intend to fill the beds in sequence same as Les. Will this alter the sump size? as space is going to be an issue.

AP, my GB hold about 200l, so I have a 600l sump tank (2 by 300l) - use it for fingerlings and duckweed.

When you're ready to learn/view the door actuators in action, let me know
