It's lucky that coal mines are far prettier, less noisy as well, good thing it's the future of our country.

Is it only me or does the QBE insurance box give you the creeps?

It's the thin end of the wedge.

i like the look of "help to find your car if stolen", since my car was stolen recently, however they dont say anything about tracking, so i wonder if it even would help......

as far as "better driver", when are people going to stop pretending someone who doesnt know how to do anything but be the slowest person on the road (and the least confident in changing lanes or turning into an intersection with decent timing) is the safest / best driver on the road.....? most of these people couldnt even see an accident coming, let alone avoid it..... would be far to scared, would be more likely to simply honk thier horn at you and get wiped out.

That's freaky..... Your car insurance company knowing exactly where you go, how long you spend at different places, all of your habits? I don't think so, they are just an insurance company..

Not so much a vent, San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing. I guess I wish I could be on top of getting tickets to the thing, but such as life. It seems like it might be contributing more to traffic than usual. Public transit usually bares the brunt of it, as most people stay at hotels close to public transit for it. One of my tegular customers was told to go to the Mariott Marina to fix something on a boat there, his response was "yea right." The Mariott marina is right by the convention center.

I struggle to find words or imagine what he might come up with next. I guess if you just keep doing one crazy thing after another people forget the previous ones while their jaws drop at the latest..

What the hell ever happened to the issue of him paying people smugglers?

He's gotta go...

The sad thing is that Labor is going along with most of it, and they aren't offering a viable option, or fighting against it, a half arsed sound bite, and they are done. I have a feeling they'd be doing half of it themselves if they were in power.

I wonder if there will be anything left by the time the next election comes around, and if labor will repair any of it if they get back into power, or just brush the changes under the table. Lets hope the Greens keep on the same path they've been on, and can loose the hippy mentality they've had for too long.

People who offer me a job and are then sporadically uncontactable when I need info on work locations.
Stoked with that...
Here's hoping I can find something else fast. Who hires someone when the workload simply isn't there? The job I already had wasn't fun but it did pay the bills.
:upset:

Shorten thought he could make a little bit of political capital out of that one . . . until he was informed that the same payments were being made under previous Labor governments. Oops.

The media dropped it like a hot potato, "lest we lose faith in our leaders". The days of investigative journalism are long dead.

So the people smugglers get paid twice? Once by the poor people who can't afford it, then again by our government. Great.

I never understood why it was such a hot topic. I agree that there should be screenings on who comes in, I don't want the type that are running around with machetes lopping people's heads off coming in. But the people who are running around from the loppers should be let in, or even people who are coming over for a better life. If I lived in some of those crappy places, I'd want out too.

Plus, there is only so many jobs that people without a tax file number can walk into. And none of them are good jobs.

You mean as in a contractor who was running out of time (put in a reason) and couldn't do all properties and picked the easiest on the list? :)

There are various reasons why every party and politician "has to be tough" on refugees. Tough meaning brutal, ruthless and criminal. First up they have to prove to their big business, billionaire paymasters that they can be tough on the Australian people. If they can't destroy the hopes and lives of refugees how can they be trusted to slash billions from pensions, public health, housing and education ? How could they be trusted to increase taxes on the poor and working class (gst to 15%) while cutting the tax rate for business, if they treated refugees legally and humanely ? Its an issue to push all the political parties further to the right.

Then there's the question of democratic rights. If they trample on the rights of refugees its an easier path to trample on our rights as well.

Refugee vilification is something all the far right groups and parties can be unified around to try to build something more organised like Le Pens National front in France or Golden Dawn in Greece.

I could go on but my blood starts to boil so I better leave it there.
