I was reading about all the diseases that can afflict fish and that some of them start cropping up with higher water temps. Well, I saw some "spots" on my channel cats and was worried. I managed to scoop one of the poor buggers up and jail him/her in the net while I observed. I recorded a short clip of him/her splashing around. What's the verdict? Healthy?

+1

Looks healthy. He's probably darker on top when not under stress.

Thanks guys. I am keeping a close eye on my cats because I bought them from a pet store, not a hatchery, and paid (overpaid?) about $4/ea for them.

On a side note:

I rarely see my cats in the tank during the day, the top is not covered (yet) and I have found all 23 of them in the farthest and darkest corner of the tank, right at the bottom. They form a big writhing pile, swimming 'round each other. I suppose I should cover at least part of the tank so they feel more safe?

I only have one catfish but he hides in the shade and when I feed them he does not come up to the top much. He really does not like the light. The bluegill and tilapia come right to the top to see if I am going to feed them.
I think your catfish would like some shade.
