Regatta, Hmm, that wasn't quite what I had in mind HB . So long as everyone but the smugglers gets to disembark and then maybe float the smugglers through the Aussie Naval firing practice station . Eventually there won't be any smugglers left and to flood of people will at least slow. Beats paying them to go back so they can get an extra boat or two.

Seriously though, I don't think there has been a solution that has been just for the dinkum refugees while fixing up the mugs that are exploiting them.
I don't know if there are any obstacles to this idea, but what would happen if the government directed some serious money towards setting up stations in areas of great need and proactively offering assistance to people in obvious despair. Cut off the supply of the smugglers. Having properly trained people at the coalface so to speak will negate the need for further assessment upon arrival and the people can be given assimilation training and introduced to the community quicker.
Paying the smugglers a bonus for getting within reach of our waters sticks in my throat. I can easily imagine them going into a loop pattern and collecting 200 on each circuit - seems like a bunnies game.

Good idea TC, you got my vote ! Funny how the politicians endlessly parrot the 'We stopped the boats" line like its some great victory, victory over what ? I never had a problem with refugees coming here in the first place.

I don't particularly like the other mob, but at least when they were in power it seemed to be fairly open and accountable, you knew when boats were coming in. These guys just treat us like mushrooms, who knows what other things are going on out there that we just don't hear about.

Bigger thinking is required as you suggest TCK, try working on the problems rather than dealing with the symptoms.

When they lose government I'll be pushing for charges (Nuremberg style) to be laid again responsible politicians, civil servants, defence forces Officers and possibly enlisted ranks as well.

Well don't expect any help from the Labor Party, they are just as guilty in there treatment of refugees as this lot.

Ok, we will prosecute for 20 years hard labor for the Abbott crew, only 18 years for the "opposition" as they are slightly less culpable and 15 years for the Greens cause they support Labour.

Labour and the Green would not be included in charges because they didn't give the orders.

Unless that is, an investigation found that the Abott government continued and extended an existing program.

All they asked for was one minutes silence for an Aussie great (Ron Clark), and they can't help but shout out hero calls.

Surely one minute of silence isn't that hard to do. You stand there, with your mouth closed, and show some respect.

Our illustrious leader has appointed a full time wind farm commissioner to deal with complaints about wind farms, when we don't even have a disabilities commissioner, when it's estimated that about 20% of the population have some form of disability.
