Hi Gabe, great setup you have there,
I just came from the plant safe treatments for fish posts and noticed your text that you use "Dipel" once a week on your vegies.....
I just copied and pasted this from the other forum.

Just a Warning on Dipel by Yates.

I emailed Yates direct and I was told by them that Dipel is NOT to be used in aquaponics if you are going to eat the fish.

So please pass it on that it is not safe to use in this way.

Hopefully no to many people are using it !!!

Was there any additional information about why? I doubt Dipel has been tested for use in AP and it could just be them saying it isn't safe to cover their .... :dontknow:

no there wasn't scotty.
I have read all of the data sheet online and there's no mention of fish,
it's a safe bacterial insecticide.....

If I spray Depil on the leaves of a plant inside a hothouse where no rain or above watering takes place, you would surely think that it would be safe to eat the fish.

It is certainly safe to eat vegetables that have been sprayed with Dipel directly, I've been doing it for decades myself.

I have a pack in front of me now, and it says: "Safe for bees, ladybirds, birds, fish, mammals and pets"

That explains the third arm i am growing :shifty:

Yokes aside - i now have 5 year old silver perch which "seems" healthy

I also would think that bacteria that is specific for caterpillars (insects) is unlikely to jump to another class of animals

It's not the first time incorrect info has been posted, and re-posted. If not corrected it eventually becomes accepted wisdom... and sometimes that happens even after it has been corrected!

it may have been the correct info back then, Obviously Dipel has been tested over the yrs and is now ok.!!

Probably a good idea for the moderators to think about deleting crap...

Being reasonably new to AP I find there is so much varying info in here that is gets so confusion, so the same questions are posted time and time again and yes your right, the same old varying info gets reposted..

Hi Gabe, Hope all is going well your post is awesome as always mate.
I have just got my system back up and running and to let you know the wall garden I did is still going strong although I have no luck with strawberries but everything else thrived and there were no probs with summer the only thing is to make sure the water kept flowing it was ok I had kale there for the summer as well as some flowers for the lovely wife to pretty it up a little. I have just pulled a lot of it out and will replant soon.
the ap you helped me with has had a bit of a face lift and I have just put in some sp and planted it out as well.

Hi Frank

good to hear that you are back at it. My system is still running strong (although i have been lazy at posting).

Currently i have 25 trout going in addition to the pond. The koi and SP stops eating in winter so i need the trout to keep the system going.

I have also been adding a bit of worm-juice to spice it up.
