Revbryce don't worry about the weather your plants will still kick on just not as fast as they would with warmer weather. There coming on nicely and will only get better.

Sorry about hijacking your thread mate and I'll get out after this.

Curious I loved the small cafes around the Komtar area but not in the building it's-self, the main reason we were there was for the Penang Hill Funicular Railway but only actually spent 2 days working on it, the place we spent most of the time at was the Kek Lok Si Temple I spent 2 weeks there all night from dusk till dawn, 6 nights a week and then a few extra days in daylight.

I climbed everyone of those steps up from the carpark 3 or 4 times a night, sometimes even more often and hated every step :upset:

One thing I did do on my day off was go to the "Phantom Races", I'm not a punter but I just had too go and see a race meeting without any horses running. In those days Malaysia didn't have enough race horses too be able to run a race meeting at all their race tracks so the horses would run at another track and you sat in the stand at the horseless track and watched a screen broadcasting a race from another track, weird stuff, I hope they have a few more horses in Penang these days :dontknow:

Curious I'll PM you and leave this thread alone.

Am 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0

Seems strange but i`ll see what todays readings are.

Plants still going well.
Had a few more fish die.
No signs of anything bad on them.
Happened after a few really cold nights and they were
the jades.
Think the system is getting to much of a temp swing from
night to day.
Also seems to go through more water than i was expecting.
No leaks so it has to be being lost from the growbed.
It has been a good system to learn from for future plans.

..
Jades are a warm climate fish.. likely, totally unsuitable to Melbourne, and I would have also thought, for Sidiney ..

You could try wrapping insulation around the barrel, to limit the temperature variability and especially turn off the GB circulation at night to further reduce heat loss..
..
.

Are you human?: on weekdays
Location: Earth, the dry part.
Isn't it like the middle of your winter right now? Those plants look fine for being outdoors in the winter. Curious, what are the hours of sunrise and sunset? Meaning, how many hours a day of sunlight? That is one of the biggest issues with flowering plants, if they get less than 6 hours of solid sun, they tend to think it is fall and bolt, or just languish until the warmer days and stronger sun. You might try hanging a couple of CFL lights over the bed and leave it on for a few hours a night on a timer, that helps trick the plants into thinking its actually the long days of summer. I do that with my indoor plants in the winter if they are in a window, just not enough natural light in terms of hours. The quality you add is not so important as the time...

+1 on the lights. Your day length is less than 10 hours.

Yep middle of winter here now.
Place its in gets sun from around 8 till sunset. good spot for winter sun.
Besides the jades not liking the cold the only real rpoblem ive had is with
wind as it on the coast.
Still happy with it as a first learning setup.
Readings as of today.
pH 7.4
Nitrate 0.0
nitrite 0.0
Am 0.0

Going to set up a temp probe now the place has internet and i will be able to
see the swing day to night.
Im also an hour and half away from the unit so being able to check it for a
distance will be helpful.
My sis who i made it for still loves it and wants a bigger setup.
