Les, I transferred 57 fish, did not count the remainders. I have now harvested and cleaned 6 fish totaling 1.5 kg's. Will keep the tally going on this thread. If I had to guess, I would say I have pulled out around 15 dead ones or fish that were obviously not gonna see the next day based on their upside down positioning LOL and delivered swift mercy before giving them to the chooks. I don't know how many I have lost to cannibalising, definately some. Will keep a track of numbers and weights as the weeks progress thru harvest. Am really looking forward to dinner tonight. Just having an ale and a few cashews and then will start prepping the fish and chopping up the saled :)

Okay, so post dinner, mixed reactions. Angus (3) didn't like it  Heather wants me to purge them  I would put about 70% satisfaction rating on them. Found them to be slightly muddy/dusty tasting, otherwise really nice. Came off the bone really easy. Will get more serious about purging them now as I want to get the most out of them and want Heather to enjoy them too (she is not a massive fish lover)
Will report back once the purging process is underway, still have to decide exactly what arrangements I will follow.

Are any of the kids traumatised by having to eat their pets?

I think Heather sort of put herself off, a little bit in her mind. She feels they tasted a bit like the tank smells, which to me is sweet, light pond-like smell, certainly not in the slightest bit offensive to me, but to her....

Considering that emily held the bag open for me to put the fish in when I got one out yesterday I would say no
