I'm new to this forum

I’ve been designing and building WB’s for over 25 years. But I refer to call them SIP's (Sub-Irrigated Planters)

My designs have the following features to them.

My reservoirs are used for water or water/nutrients only.

My liner material is 8 mil PE, UV protected, nylon reinforced, costs less than $0.20 p/s/f.

The reservoir’s fill tube is a 3/4” PVC pipe less than 18”, when filled with a garden hose.

Or the reservoir can be kept filled 24/7/365 by either a horizontal or vertical float valve, gravity fed.

The reservoir over flows from the bottom of the WB, no overflow pipes are needed.

The reservoir just 2” deep holds more water than a rock filled reservoir 6” deep.

I, use a soil-less media mix as a growing medium.

By using a soil-less mix, I can grow root crops such as 8” long carrots in a 12” deep WB.

I, can also direct seed the media, cutting out starting in seeds in seed trays.

The weight of the soil-less media is 1/3 of a pea gravel rock growing media.

I, use a signage material 10 mm thick called Coroplast, for the reservoirs top, and 4 mm for the sides.

Microfiber wicks bring up the water from the reservoir into the soil-less growing media.

My customers have never reported any foul odors coming from the reservoir or growing media.

With my designs you don’t have to kneel down to garden, you can stand up and garden.

Installed at 34” high for handicap persons in a wheel chair. 40-42” high for a elderly person to stand and lean over. I’m 6’-2” tall, 67 years old and I prefer to stand.

A 4’ x 8’ x 12” tall WB, with all the soil-less media can be prefabricated in a woodshop, loaded onto a 1/2 ton truck and and transported to the customers home.

2 men can set-up and have the WB ready to plant in less than 3-4 hours.

And if you want to grow vining types of crops, those are best grown around the perimeter of the WB thru the vertical sidewalls, saves room in the top.

Any question just ask.

There are many wicking beds used here on the forum without rocks in the reservoir.

8 c/f Decomposed Pine bark mixed with 2.8 c/f Fafard's #52 commercial growers mix.

Approx total yield 9 c/f.
