They sure do, they go absolutely bonkers at feeding time. I've lost three to random escaping the tanks but luckily none have actually left the tank when I'm feeding them. They just splash a lot mostly, lol.

here is one of my other inspirations, besides backyardaquaponics . My sister asked if this was going to me one day? I said I sure hope so.

Getting heaps of tomatoes at the moment which is awesome. We are probably picking a bowl every day for snacks or salad with dinner, and today I picked about a kilo and a half's worth to give to a friend. I've saved some seeds from a couple of the Pink Brandywine, so next season I actually know what I'm growing (I won't mix them up again!).

And in other non-AP related news, we lost our little old man Mister on Tuesday, after 15 long years. He featured in one post in my barrel system thread and his feet occasionally in photos in this thread. Here is was doing what he loved best, warming his bones in the sun and pottering around the backyard with his new friend Eska.

Thanks guys. Sorry to about your cat Bcasey, it really is hard.

We have had Mister since I was 18 and my husband 19, so for pretty much all of our adult lives he has been there. It's hard getting used to the fact he isn't just curled up in his bed snoozing. But we do have our new little girl to keep us entertained, it's been a while since we have had a dog so full of energy, lol. It's nigh on impossible to get a photo of her when she's awake as she is usually a blur, lol.

So sorry about your pup, that is rough, especially after 15 years they get loyaler and sweeter with every year.

Speaking of years and years, I too have planned to sort out what I planted where. I'm often rewarded with surprises; I've gardened for twenty years every year.

So I've managed to get my hands on two disgustingly dirty but solid IBC's that I can use to finally add some extra GB's. One contains the remains of a dead bird which shall be interesting to clean out, but luckily it's well preserved in the rancid vegetable oil the tank contained. A bit of scrubbing, detergent and some bleach should see them clean and ready to go, although it is making me wish I grabbed the high pressure washer my dad has been meaning to give me!

Thanks boss, he definitely changed as he got older, he was definitely an eccentric old man, quite funny at times. :D

I haven't really done much gardening, the odd thing here and there but really this is the most I've ever done, and honestly the most fun I've had with it too.

The tomato plants have gotten away from me! The crappy trellis frame exploded open and now I have plant everywhere, given the amount of fruit that is still being produced I really need to get off my butt and tidy things up.

Still haven't gotten any Silver Perch yet, just haven't had a chance to get down there, but the trout in Tank 1 are still in there. I'm not quite sure what to do with them as I expected they would have all been fished out due to temps by now. I'm pondering just keeping them in and getting a new batch of trout for Tank 2, and seeing how big I can grow these guys out to. Not really important though, and I'd still like to try the Silver Perch!

I think the remaining zucchini plant that didn't get overrun by the tomatoes might actually be starting to fruit? What do you think?

It's been a while between updates, but there hasn't much been going on AP wise. I never got around to getting some Silver Perch and I haven't checked to see if it's too late now. I still have the 7-8 trout from last season, so I think I might just get some more trout and get the SP and hopefully catfish later on.

Just got stuck in to getting rid of the tomato plants, they are still growing and producing fruit which I didn't think they'd still be doing, but they need to come out now, I'm way way behind getting the winter veggies in.

I'm halfway through pulling the plants out and I've collected heaps of tomatoes, looks like I've got a LOT of green tomato chutney to make! Got about the same amount left on the remaining plants. There are enough ripe ones to go towards a small amount of sauce too.

Next season I definitely don't need as many plants in, we got thoroughly sick of eating tomatoes, despite the fact they are a major part of our diet (mostly a Mediterranean diet). I think we have eaten or given away more than what I've already collected. I'm quite surprised just how productive they have been.

Got stuck into the second GB and got rid of the remaining tomatoes. Final tally from yesterday and today's haul has resulted in a touch over 15kg of green tomatoes, and 4kg of ripe tomatoes. Looks like I'm going to have to scale up my green tomato chutney recipe quite a bit given it only calls for 2.5kg, lol. Now I can finally get in and get some winter veggies again, bring on that purple sprouting broccoli, yummo!

I've been lazy lazy, really late getting the winter veggies in so I don't think I'll see much of a season with them, and I am still running an empty system because I haven't been able to get over and get some more trout (or SP, or any other fish). Lordy, it's pretty much time to get next seasons tomatoes started already!

Anyway, I netted a couple of last years trout to have a look at them as it's been a good long while since I have. They are getting big, although they'd probably be bigger if I had enough food, for them, lol.

My sad and sorry tiny winter veggies. Next year I'll plant in a timely manner, I promise! lol.

I got the strawberries in on time, that's something at least! I just need to get the other GB's connected so I can plant more.

Not AP related but why not share, my mini 'apple grove' lol. 5 columnar and narrow apple trees, all to cross pollinate and hopefully grow lots of delicious apples. Varieties are:

Granny Smith (narrow not columnar)
Pink Lady (narrow not columnar)
Golden Delicious (columnar)

And two I don't know what they are otherwise known as:
Pom-Pink
Pom-for-You

Apples, woo! They will hopefully grow well along side the two plums I planted in the next bed last year. :headbang:

Wow I just re-read, excuse the poor grammar, punctuation, spelling and the like. I should proof-read more often, lol.
