This was win 7 from a PC (I only have one notebook and its running XP on an atom based processor for my flexible camera and temp sensors) Laptops to do things are for yuppies; now its mobile phones (although I admit the GPS function in my car is useful) :)

There is a lot of stuff I would consider buying online from the US; however you pay 2X minimum just because of their *frack* postal charges.

I'm bored.

Nothing on Netflix I feel like watching.

Too dark and raining outside to finish off the growbed.

Too cold to get out from under my warm blanket.

I've looked at all my stuff I like to look at online.

No new youtube channels I can think of to watch, and I've watched all the stuff I've subscribed to.

I could play some donkey kong on the wii, but...

I might do that actually.

Now I'm bored waiting for it to load up.

Edit...

Damn puffer fish keeps on growing and rolling it's spikey belly at me. Why won't it show it's backside for me to pound?

Call Centre staff are not my favourite people at the best of times and trying too get a TV that is well out warranty was never going too be easy, I bought a LG 47LW5700 47" Smart TV 4 years ago and all the HDMI port failed a bout 6 months ago so I rang the call centre to have it repaired and was told it was out of warranty and it would cost $300+ for parts plus $120 for the service call.

Spending $420+ on a 4 year old TV I didn't think was a good option so I replace it with a new 55" Smart TV and put the old 47" LG out the back under the pergola to watch football with a few beers on the weekends. The LG was useless, you couldn't use a DVD player or a recorder and nothing is broadcast in 3D so without a DVD player the 3D component was gone not that we ever used it anyway. We already have a 47" Plasma TV out under the pergola so it just a waste having a second TV out there.

Smart TV's are not the greatest option in TV's and the only thing I like about a Smart TV is the firmware upgrades, if I had a choice I wouldn't have a smart TV but that's the way most of them come these days.

Having a TV with no HDMI ports bugged me and paying $420+ too fix it bugged me even more so I thought I'd look up the consumer law on warranty and get back to the Call Centre. I asked them again if the TV could be repaired and was told it could be but it would be at my expense, so I mentioned I would talk too the ACCC and was told that there was no need to contact them, the TV would be repaired free of charge. There was no argument, no discussion, all they needed was to see a receipt and have the product code number from the back of the set to match the parts. I was amazed how quickly they changed their mind and without any hesitation agreed to fix the problem the moment the ACCC was mentioned.

The TV was repaired yesterday free of charge, the repair guy took the back off the set and replaced a circuit board and was gone in 10 minutes.

Under a new law, customers may still have a right to return defective goods even if the manufacturer's warranty period has expired. On January 1 this year the new Australian Consumer Law (ACL) came into effect.Jun 7, 2011

Australian law in that regard is great. My laptop kept playing up on me (power plug wouldn't stay in, the hindge was cracking), it was just out of it's one year warranty, but I took it back, and it was fixed right up.

Same with my three gopro's, swapped right over, and then refunded on the third dodgy one.

It's another reason why I never say yes to the extended warranty that's always offered, it's already offered by law, you're just paying for nothing.

You're right and if the item is replaced under the manufacturer's warranty you lose your extended warranty, if it's repaired and not replaced the extended warranty remains intact but as say, you are covered by law anyway and the extra warranty is just a waste of money.

In fact some stores will tell you you only have a 12 months warranty and try too sell you an extended warranty and in fact the manufacturer's warranty is longer than 12 months so it pays too do your homework.

On April 27, 2015, a judge ruled against the food industry, spearheaded by the Grocery Manufacturers Association, upholding Vermont’s GMO labeling law. The law will go into effect on July 1, 2016
The GMA, Monsanto, and other chemical technology companies now have only one option remaining: to pass the Pompeo bill (HR 1599) in 2015, which would strip states of the right to pass GMO food labeling bills
If we defeat the Pompeo bill, we will have GMO labeling in the US. It is imperative to contact your representatives and tell them to vote NO on HR 1599

..
GMO is set to be a serious issue for following generations and unfortunately , it's the USA that is stuffing the world..
GM food identification is pivotal to avoiding the products.. All food should identify their country of manufacture and their "Green" status.. ie.. "Organic" or "GM" or....

Unfortunately, I can't VOTE, without a US ZIP code.. but you guys in the US can - give it a go..

Correction - I just voted using my MyUSA address in FL

Quote:
Monsanto and the junk food industry have finally found a few Congress members (whose campaigns have been funded by Big Ag and Big Food), to introduce their bill designed to trump states’ rights to pass GMO labeling laws and deny consumers the right to know if their food contains GMOs (genetically modified organisms).

TAKE ACTION: Tell Your Representative: Don’t Support H.R. 4432, Big Food’s Bill to Kill GMO Labeling Laws!

I know there are pro's and con's to GM foods, but I am a cautious sod and don't think enough has been done to protect non-gm supplies against adverse stuff ups that inevitably pop up down the track.

I have emailed the info. kindly posted previously to all my yankie land contacts in the hope they share my concern.

Concerning citizen initiated referendums, I suspect the only people who fear them are those opposed to the possibility of change and accountability. Got to be the way to go.

As to pollies being hard workers - I'd agree if we were only talking about local government. My experience is that state and federal pollies have staff to do the grunt work while they make hard work of employing their sanitary wipes after kissing the wee babes.

Of course I am being cynical and generalist in this comment - there are dinkum salts of the earth who somehow make it into big government, usually as independants. But that is the problem - they are too rare, and if they stay too long, the mongrels will often bring them down to their level, one way or another.

Why do I say this. Too many decisions are blatently unpatriotic to the battlers view, having at best a quick fix with no view to the future welfare of the nation and its workers, a nation that is rapidly finding the hole is almost empty. And I'm pro capitalism, with a social concience.

And as for MS operating systems??!!!! You pay good money and expect good service and the right to use the product how you see fit, without modifying it of course. But nooooo. Can't have that. :upset:

Religion, politics and MS OS. Way to get a vent humming.

By the way...
What keeps on happening to all those discoveries that will cure... everything!?
