Hey everybody,

First i would like to say...this board has been so useful for starting up my small indoor system. I was lurking for a while but now my plants start to have some leaf problems so i registered.

Im not sure whats going on here. I was thinking maybe iron is the problem? Some leaves curl up others hang...eventually the leaves of my zucchini dry out and turn somewhat gold/bronze. It look likes the veins stay nice green. The basis becomes a bit yellow and has some 'dried out' spots on it.

You guys have any ideas?

My results of a water test;

No3; Around 50-70 mg/l
No2; 0
GH; 10d
KH 7d
PH 6.8
Ci2 Around 0 - 0.5

This looks a lot like the problem I had when I first started my system last year. It seems to be related to a potassium deficiency. Try adding some potassium on a regular basis, since it is not usually sufficient in the fish food.

@RikV - Hi and welcome, you might have more than one type of deficiency. You can check out my system thread linked at my signature for some discussion on supplementing. Although i do not have calcium deficiency (leaves curling), i did had some problems with potassium (browning of leaf tips/vanes) and iron (lighter shade of green on younger leaves).

Regards

IRockLobster; I looked into it a bit and it sure does look like an potassium deficiency! Today i will start the hunt to get some!

Curious; I read you topic. Nice system you have going. Can it be a calcium deficiency in this case? I thought calcium deficiency starts to be visible in the younger leaves. My problems is in most part the bigger leaves.

@RikV - Yeah, that sounds like calcium deficiency. Dasboot posted a very informative/interesting pdf linked below. It should give you the information you seek on plants.
