The plastic sealer on those bulkheads seems pretty narrow, the ones I used were twice the width.

I'd recommend putting a bead of marine silkaflex between the pond liner and the rubber bit, then tighten it shut, just a bit of insurance.

Silkaflex is on the list, what about PVC glues? those seems pretty smell, will they harm fish?

No harm to the fish with PVC glue. Just let it dry before you run water through it.

I just like the silkaflex because it's thicker, and when pressed out, it will fill any high or low part equally.

I kept in having issues with the bulkhead, and after the silkaflex, two years later no leaks.

As a mechanic sometimes I let the silicone dry a while before tightening it so it doesn't squish out

I had another kidney stone episode last night, arrggg! :support: We were prepared with pain meds from the urologists, thus avoiding another trip to the emergency room. I was in agony all night, to say the least. The pain has subsided somewhat. We're finally taking steps to see a specialist of the kidney.
I also looked up what a Nephrologist was, besides an Aquaponics interruptus
What Is a Nephrologist?
A nephrologist is a medical doctor who specializes in kidney care and treating diseases of the kidneys. The term nephrologist comes from the Greek word “nephros”, which means kidney or renal and “ologist” refers to someone who studies. Nephrologists are also called kidney doctors. Nephrologists are educated in internal medicine and then undergo more training to specialize in treating patients with kidney diseases. They commonly treat chronic kidney disease (CKD), polycystic kidney disease (PKD), acute renal failure, kidney stones and high blood pressure and are educated on all aspects of kidney transplantation and dialysis. :drunken:

Brian,

Try this I have a couple of friends that swear by it. One of them used to get stones as frequent as you. Hasn't had one since. I would try it before going through another expensive round of doctors.

Hi Brian
I sympathize with you. Kidney stones are very painful.
In my experience women will discuss their pains and symptoms readily.
Men less so.
The stiff upper lip and the grin and bear it attitude are common.
I salute you Sir for posting it.
Some patients suffering from kidney stones here in the UK are treated with Ultra sound.
This is a non-invasive technique whereby the stones are shattered by high frequency sound waves.
As I am sure you are aware blood in the urine is a common symptom of many kidney problems.
It should never be ignored.
Always consult your doctor.
Us men need to spread this word!
If your courage in posting prompts one man to seek advice early then, Well Done You!

Brian I know what you're going through and it's not good fun, I had 5 stones removed by surgery in 1975 and still have a 6mm stone in my kidney they couldn't remove.

I've had no problems at all with the remaining stone except that it keeps showing up in scans and they keep telling me I should have it removed.

floridafishin, that's an interesting cure and well worth trying.

Joblow,

Yeah it is just one of those old time remedies passed down through the generations, that works. Well before we were programmed that we always had to be fixed by a doctor and a pill.

Thanks for that, I'd wished I'd known about before I had surgery

Hey Brian, just checking in on progress after some time away from BYAP forum. Sorry to hear the stones have given you hell, but the progress of your AP setup and the property in general is impressive. You're a workhorse mate!
And welcome to metric, where almost any calculation (lengths to volumes to weights to...) can be done quickly in your head :-)
cheers.
