Awesome Jay! Finally caught up with the Baw Baw Community Gardens thread - looks fantastic! Is it in Warragul? I will check it out the next time I am through with a bit of time to spare.

Workshop went well today - had a guy with his young son who had a 14 month old system, another couple who had experience in aquaculture, a young couple wanting to build one, and a recent community gardener who was interested also. We built a small blue barrel system, talked about various systems that I had built, how the community system was built and fed the fish and tested the water - great day!!

Sounds like the workshop was a great success. Have you connected with the gippsland aquaponics facebook group?

Nope F&F, I have only recently discovered that FB can actually be useful for something through a few local groups - picked up my first lot of fence palings and got rid of some agapanthus for free through a 'buy swap sell' group, bought my chooks through the Gippsland poultry group, and I am picking up some strawberry runners for my system today through someone on the local AP group. I stumbled across it at about the same time as I found BYAP. I use to avoid FB like the plague, the main problem with FB is filtering out all of the inane drivel! :?

Jay

can you please let me know how you connected your Maxflo to the 40mm pipe. I am trying to connect my Maxflo to 1.5" pipe and can not find a fitting that will work without rigging something up. thanks for the help!

I think in this case I used the fitting that comes with the pump (is it tapped?) and them made a piece of DWV pipe jammed onto it - working so far.
Mantis used a soft hose and pipe clamp.

I think this is it - the one on the right. I used a bit of DWV pipe which is slightly different diameter and then into a normal pressure pipe female fitting - needed lots of glue.

So:
Laguna fitting - grey DWV pipe - female pressure fitting into thread - black slipnut (don't forget a slip fitting either white or black to get the pump out)
