I am working on the printed parts for mine. Griffin 3D



The top connector took almost 5 hours to print and I still need 2 more.

This is the kind of thing I want to have, without any particular need for it

It's a bit of the same also.

I have been using 3dprinters since the introduction of the Makerbot Cupcake in 2009 at hacker spaces. Now time to make my own.

That part that took h4:47 to do can be done in h1:15 on the Griffiin.

Griffin is able to do print speeds at 300mm/s I was doing 45mm/s with the Taz

I have a Magimix food processor with only three plastic feet/supports.
When your machine has finished making itself could you make me an additional foot? How much ? It is solid. about 3 cm high by 1.5 cm wide What would you need for construction? Photo? Etc

Why don't you just order from http://www.magimix-spares.co.uk/Magimix ... 9-4/39928/? It will not take as long and probably be cheaper.

3d printing is great for making parts that are either no longer available, or that you have an idea for(like a great aerator I once saw printed), but most spares are usually cheaper because they are made in bulk.

I'm still building this damn thing. Upper connectors are done carriages are done I have only done 1 of the lower connectors and they are around 9hrs to print. I'm using a community printer and I don't want to have to spend all night doing the print like I did last time. got off work 17:15 started printing 18:30 print is done around 3:30 back at home 4:15........

On the pic of the controller screen. I see you are only using 1 head. Is it possible to load up the other 2 heads with the same filament as head 1. That way toy could print with more than 1 head at a time. If that machine is capable of it.

This machine is not capable of doing 3 hot ends. It's a arduino mega with a ramps board that controls 5 steppers.
One for X one for Y two for the Z last one goes to the extruder. It would need another board for the other two stepper moters to run them as far as I know.

Richrap at http://richrap.blogspot.com/?m=0 has done some color mixing with 3 extruders and had interesting results.

X Y Z are a lot different in a delta. It does not run like a normal Cartesian system as many of the other printers are. It does give you a free stepper driver to use.

I know it is not a 3D printer question. But you maybe the perfect person to ask. Have you ever used an extruder to make your own filament? If so do you think that someone could use one to make their own K1 2 or 3 clone? And if so would it be cost efficient? I was thinking one could us virtually unusable scrap plastic. Like soda bottles. So the raw materials would be virtually free.

The Griffin 3D guys where working on a filament maker and a grinder to reuse crap prints and failures. The hard part is consistency and size.

PLA will biodegrade, but so much easier to work with. ABS will last much longer, but is a pan in the ass sometimes. ABS can be amazing for the finish using acetone vapor for smoothing. I'm not so sure on extruding a clone for K1 and printing a clone maybe a bit time consuming. You could always print several and do a silicone mold of them and cast them.

Casting could easily be an option. I just knew that they extruded pvc piping. So the thought grew. Thanks.

I have looked into these but the cost of the resins can be high. Around $150 for some very high quality resins. The finish is amazing with these types of printer.

I won the March Madness pool at work and putting the money towards the parts to get this printer going.

Ordered steppers they will be in later this week.
