Thank you Chris and Andreas. Indeed it is finally starting to look like something. Grow beds next, I'm thinking five 3'X6' with four going up the wall on the house side facing east. Still trying to figure out what they call a hydroponic plastic grow bed which isn't ridiculously priced. A local aquaponics guy said he bought four 3'X3' "cement mixing trays from Homedepot for less than $20 per. Everywhere I go they're real proud of their Hydroponic grow beds. They look flimsy as hell too.

Let me know when you're find them. I haven't seen anything like the nice ones they have in Oz either. Bunk feeders I can get with steel stands for around 65.00 on sale. They're about 6 x 2, so not really big enough. TC Lynx used them.there's always ibc, and then clad them with some wood. Pretty easy, and they look nice like that.

You call them nonexistent. LOL Why not make a wood and liner bed(s), then clad them with stone to tie everything together aesthetically?

Wood and stone go well together too. I think boss has done enough masonry work for a while. :D

Good point. I do too, but after a few weeks, your hands need a break from the lime. I'm picturing nice redwood or cedar wrapped GB's. Then maybe a few nice propane fire features.

I can't believe how well you guys "get me." I'm leaning toward steel frames for the two 6'x6' vertical garden wall spaces on either side of the French doors. As yet I haven't drawn those matching grow bed frames out. Yes, I will do wood cladding for the beds, and plastic fabric inside to hold media and water. I like the idea of water dripping from one bed to the next too and finally dripping right back into the fish tank

BMN-First-rain-March-19th-2015
Good morning

I have not done my newsletter regularly lately. Also I did not work to my normal degree on the aquaponics pond project yesterday. I fiddled about a bit, but nothing serious. Maybe I needed a break, probably right? Anywho, I took one. I was also planning to work on my Jeep, but that got postponed as well. We’re getting very close with the masonry, many issues have come to a head and since been worked out. We ordered a few things in preparation for Spring planting.

It is already getting very hot in the greenhouse, so a high volume exhaust fan needs to be installed to cool it down. As well as this fan we plan on another louvered vent which we’ll place high on the opposite wall from the fan to create cross-ventilation. With a little luck that vent will be ordered this weekend.

The fan controller thermostat is crucial to keep extremes in temperature in check. I wanted to get something programmable and with a network interface so I could monitor it from online. Kevin is working on an Ardunio controller monitor for us so this is good enough for now, and the cost is half of what a slightly more sophisticated device costs, so that is a good thing.

using these little dealies is described in this youtube video

alrighty then, let me throw down a few update photos of our greenhouse pond system

Does that mean that they now need a permit to raise bass and tilapia now that they are "game fish"?

probably, sounds like basic business and if nothing else, our government is all about money. Whoops, am I waxing cynical first thing in the morning? Hehe, let me go look and see if I need a permit for raising trout... Damn it's always something http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/fishing/fish-vendors/ this is a fascinating page perhaps I'll do a copy and paste to my thread

Seems to be a importation permit, but I can't find New Mexico fish vendors . I did read previously that licensed fishermen can catch as many as the permit allows and what we do with them is up to us. http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/download/enforcement/importation/applications/Fish-or-Fish_Eggs-Importation-Application.pdf
