It's been 16 days since the last uploaded pictures.
Growth is amazing! I really love this system. It's very simple but it works as a powerhorse

Tomatoes That i should have given some support are now occupying vertical space

So much fruits are starting to bear

Bell peppers!

So far I'm very very happy with my babies. Need to expand into more growbeds because I have ample pump power.
Have been harvesting already. This has just been 2 months. I love the SUN!

Sweet basil, 66CM in 66Days! :notworthy:

Tomatoes are heavily starting to grow into good pickables.
Bell peppers are getting so much fruits they hardly can support themselves anymore

great going!!

that's a very tall basil!

So... about the water change of my system, I did a partial water change instead. I removed the 2nd fish and put all the fish in the main concrete tank, about 51 of them out of 100. I replaced 2/3 of the concrete tank with rain water the rain water measured 6.8 on the PH scale after the partial change the water in my system now measures 7.6 from 7.8 - 8.0.

Right now I am waiting for rain to fill my 2k liter reserve tanks then I am going for the partial water change again. I hope it rains soon! :)

Keep those pictures coming laruko, keep us motivated! :D

@laruko.89 - Hi, you should start your own system thread to keep track of your progress, sometimes i mistakenly thought that it was xynax updating his progress. :D :D

Yeah, xynax always forgets to update here. :D :D

BTW xynax i took a look at your photos on your blog, i feel that your tomatoes are a bit thin and tall, compared to mine, what type are they?

They might need more sun, but i am no expert on this. You could post some photos here, maybe others will chip in.

Regards

That is exactly the problem with my system, it only has 2-3 hours of sunlight during noon coupled with high PH water then you are left with a slow growing system.

I am considering in building another one but this time in front of our garage it would rake up about 5-6 hours of sunlight there but I need time to set it up though.

Laruko! you should record that seminar and let take a look at it yeah? :D

Hello guys, I set up my own system here at my place in Quezon City. I based it on what I read and what stuff I had on hand.

So far it's been very educational, learning a lot along the way and hoping I can build an IBC system next time.

If you guys have any tips I'd welcome them.

I think I have too few fish for the amount of plants. (Only 13 fingerlings left from the original 20, I didn't screen the pipe so the fingerlings got sucked to the grow bed.)

Read the IBC of Aquaponics link at the top right of this page, and ask as many questions as needed before building. This way we can help you make the most out of your resources.

By the way this might be another place for you to be able to pick up the harder to find parts for your AP systems. I am not affiliated nor have I ever seen their store. I just saw them on another forum and though of you guys.

Good find Floridafishin I've seen their Facebook page, they have some great growth down there and would be very handy for locals to call in and have a chat if you are ever down in Cebu.

If I get to Cebu again I will definitely call and have a chat, they are right nextdoor to the Airport and there's a chance I may be heading that way later in the year visiting the wife's family.

Their Facebook page is not up-to-date so their website will give you a better idea of what they sell.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I decided to rip out my raft system, too much algae and fouling going on due to a lot of exposed area, I ill turn that into a media grow bed instead.

* Has anybody been doing offline mineralization of fish waste? I am planning to have my future IBC system with an RFF and Biofilter, yet am not quite sure about a mineralization tank.

* My main concern is how to plumb it and utilize the resulting water. Also, if there will be an issue with using anaerobic mineralization.

What's the purpose of your mineralizer? If you're just trying to get additional nutrients I'd stick with using the aerobic method, it's faster. If you're having a problem with Nitrates being high then use the anaerobic method since this will release nitrogen gas (N2). The anaerobic method will give you some H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide) gas if you run it too long (which is pretty nasty smelling). You could also get methane given off as a gas. Both methane and H2S are flammable so you might want this somewhere with good ventilation in case you overshoot your endpoint.
