Doubtful.

Even if you separate them from the mother they will still eat each other, especially when moulting. In an aquarium you may end up with about 10 or so.

I found even when following some basic grading guidelines I couldn't achieve much more than 30 per m2 (IBC) of floor space. Even if your successful at maintaining that 30 you will be waiting for a feed. It will take a male to get to about 20cm (80-100g) in 2.5 years and max out at 350g in 4 odd years. Its a long time to wait for a plateful of tails. Id be surprised if you could grow any past a year or more as they usually get tail sores and shell disease from hard bottom tanks and low pH levels.

I assume that NO ONE wants yabbies.. free yabbies... :dontknow:

I have let some of the bubs go in the sumps and if there are no takers for the rest, then they too will go in and they can just fight it out.. "survival of the fittest" mode.. :support:

I suspect that I could actually post them, by trying something like wet wood shavings.. they are still tiny - like 10-15mm
..

I'd be interested in paying for postage, might do a post for help on suggestions if you'd be open to that?

Interesting that the chap up Hornsby, who was giving away SP... also had yabbies in the re-purposed Swimming Pool...

I was wondering if I could get away with some in the FT, along with suitable hides of conduit lengths..
NO DOUBT that tiny ones just would not last...

Need to be AM Sunday, as going to celebrate with my mum, her 99th birthday..
leaving about 1330.... to 1400... but I can always leave them out anyway

you will need to initially shove them in another container to grow out a bit more.. OR.. you could just throw them in a final home and wonder how many survive..

Charlie - if you see this...

Do I assume that it is not all that difficult sexing yabbies..

I just pulled some of the tube-clusters from my main yabbie sump, and found two smaller yabbies.. about 45 and 30mm long..
In both, there was clear indication of the triangular spurs on the last legs, and so I am pretty confident that I can pick a male, and thus the opposite will be females (not seen yet..)

How small have you been able to sex them..
..

@BuiDoi - I would really loved some, but it will not be easy not sure if it is even legal to send live specimens inter country. :upset: :upset:

Heard Yabbies are better eating compared to Red-Claws. :D :D

The issue is security, in 2015.. having to declare every item, otherwise it would be likely easy to mail a box with shavings and some babies.. an XRAY would likely show nothing but vegetative matter..

Now, you have to prove who you are...
