Hello,

I just learned to work a little with the arduino. I am from belgium and discovered aquaponics. Can someone help me with the code?

Thanks
Kristof

Stunning work Chîµmånƒµ!

I love your work. I kind of wish you would release a RaspberryPi version ;) I love the idea of been able to ssh in the Pi, and update code remotely etc. But I don't know of any project as mature as this out there on the rpi.

Well done sir.

Could someone upload the code to something other than dropbox? I am trying to download the "aquaponics_chiumanfu.zip" but I keep getting a 404 error.

Same I am also having the same problem with the dropbox 404 message. I Just finished finding all parts on ebay but wanted to double check there was code, as Iam a beginner arduino user.

I am a Aussie Architectural student specialising in environmental design and sustainability and I am currently building a Hydroponic turn Aquaponic Window Farm for my apartment. Its set up but its waiting on some hanging CFL globes being made by an electrician friend. I had some minor leaks in the upper reservoir which need resealing and First water test of the system also presented uneven water flow through the system which I have to deal with before starting my first seedlings.

The system is currently a hydroponic, air pump system consisting of an upper and lower PVC Reservoirs with "hanging-beaded-chained-coke-bottle-grow-cells". 24 of which sits in a slender and light-weight PVC Exo-frame. I plan to eventually build a small Aquarium tank to fit below the 24 coke bottle grow cells. My interest in this area has also turned me towards using ardriuno for the automation, monitoring and energy collection and supply. I feel that before going to the Aquaponics system I would be best to have my renewable source of energy and automation set up before I create further problems for me to try and decipher.

If you are unable, is someone able to point me to a tutorial that explains what the different components are for, basics of writing code rather then the building of projects. I have been tinkering with Arduino Uno R3 starter kit and theres is plenty of practical tutorials where you copy the circuits and code, and I can do them, but i don't understand what I am actually doing fully as I have no electrical background.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Too bad you don't build and sell these.

Outstanding work, Chiumanfu! :thumbleft:

Please keep us updated. I am particularly interested in hearing how your pH and DO sensors are holding up over time, and your quest for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate sensors.

Sorry for not checking back here more frequently. Been really busy lately.

For the correct download link look here. For some reason I can not edit the first post to include the updated info.
viewtopic.php?f=50&t=22607&start=90#p482854

Note: this sketch has not been test with Arduino IDE 1.5.x BETA or 1.6.0. It probably will not work. Please use Arduino IDE 1.0.6

The sensors have been working great for the last 3 months in my home aquarium where I have it temporarily setup. Still haven't got the ap system up and running yet as RL got in the way. I also have it running with a CC3000 WIFI module which is really quite stable after the latest firmware update from TI.

No luck on the ammonia, nitrate and nitrite sensors. They are so expensive.

No plans to port to the RPi. Linux is overkill for this kind of stuff.

Thanks for all the comments. If you are building a similar system and need help, don't hesitate to shoot me off a msg.

I have not messed with Arduino much from after 1.0 in was in the 0022 for most of the things I was doing. Just reading through your sketch made a lot of sense with how everything was laid out.

I am just lost on the Grovestreams bit. I uploaded 400 transactions of crap to it with just modifying the example trying to use the ds18b20. I know my room is not 500*F.... I think i may have it now.

The ds18b20 needs the right resistor to not give a maxing out temp reading.

I like to break down the sketches to make sure they work first, then put them together to upload and do other stuff. Just seems to work in my head.

Make sure you have the right libraries loaded too.

Yeah, you need one pull-up resistor (4.7k-10 k ohm) between Vcc and the data line. It should work with either 3.3V or 5.0V
See https://www.adafruit.com/product/374 for more info.

Show me your code and I will find the problem. I think you might be sending the data as an integer instead of a string. Grovestreams is expecting ASCII strings.

It could also be the pullup resistor as suggested. But when I remove the resistor, I consistently get -127C.
