The air flow scheme looks like a winner Kainat :thumbright:. Make at least some of those automatic vents and get yourself a thermometer or data logger that tells you what you min and max temperatures were for each day (placed somewhere out of direct sunlight).

Cheers

Thanks Scotty, I do plan on doing that as well. Now I'm going to have to get started on all this work. It's just too bad that it is a mere -22°c outside right now.

Stay warm Kainat. Maybe if you get the lexan up quick it'll help keep you warmer.

Thanks Scotty, I will. It's even colder this morning, it was -25°c when I woke up. It's supposed to be getting warmer not colder!

As for the twinwall, I havnt bought it yet. I do need to do it soon. I can't believe the difference in price of this stuff! I got 3 quotes and they range from $60 - $125 a 4'x8' sheet :dontknow: . That's crazy! Obviously I'm going to go with the lowest price.

Correction it was actually-30°c

Make sure you check out the polycarb. I built a sunroom and other projects with the more expensive sheets(US plastics I think). When I sheeted my GH I bought the cheaper sheets (Amerilux)for about 40 ea. The outer layer is thinner and it was hard to seat the neoprene washers without dimpling. I still get condensation and a little water around the washers. I have checked the sunroom and there was no problem. I've had better luck with batten boards in most applications. Most of the mfg's will have pdf installation drawings on their website which include battens.

The trim, accessories and tape they sell with the polycarb are expensive. I used aluminum foil tape top/bottom and poked holes in the bottom tape to let the moisture out. It doesn't hold up if exposed but worked good under battens. The H channel is about the only accessory I use. I silicone the sheets into the channel. Then you can screw threw the channel to hold the sheets in place avoiding sheet penetrations...especially on the roof. BTW...use 100% silicone or what they recommend. I used some clear latex I had lying around and had an unexpected sprinkle. It ran down my roof sheets and etched a stain that won't buff out.

If you're going to try replacing some with the insect screen ventilation during the summer then I wouldn't silicone those, although, I suppose you could just get a different set of H channels for the screens though. You could also just permanently mount the screen on the inside. Anyway you have some choices to make on how the panels are mounted and how permanently.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know that they would be that different, although I should have

For what it's worth, this One is the stuff that I was looking at $60 a sheet. http://plastic-fabrication-distribution ... /item-1002

This is the other one http://www.greenwallsolutions.com. These guys are $64 a sheet.

I'm kind of leaning towards the second one.

I think that I would put the insect screen in permanently. The twinwall will be put in a frame that's going to be hinged for the vents.

I haven't totally decided on what I'm going to use to instal it yet.

I decided to try and smoke some salmon. I put it into a dry brine for about 12 hrs. Then I smoked it for about 2 hrs and I've gotta say, I don't know why I hadn't tried it sooner!

Looks delish! Is that the Egg? 2 hrs would be considered slow cooked. I use a cheap Big Chief elec smoker for fish and jerky because my grill and charcoal smokers got to hot. Reducing the heat and smoking for 8-12 hrs at around 120-140f will give it the chewy tender texture. For smoking big cuts I try and keep the grill around 225. I'm getting ready to make some venison salami.

No it's a Kamado Joe, similar to the Egg. Yes it was slow cooked. My temp was about 170°f.
