Steve was one of the early members who is sorely missed, very clever guy. Heaps of fish and aquarium experience so anything in regards to fish health, disease, chemistry etc etc. Like a lot of others on the top 20 have basically just moved on with their lives. Steve stopped posting shortly after I arrived on the scene so I didn't have much to do with him. Actually if you dug right into the numbers 90% of the 15000 members are rarely active, some pop in now and then and then you have your regular posters. But over time some stop and more arrive and so the wheels keep turning.

Every name in that top 20 had great systems and lots to offer mostly over 5 or 6 year period. TCLynx has a bub now but is still active. Jaymie is still here doing most of her work behind the scenes. Vegie boy and creative1 phased out just a couple of years ago. Monya started an aquaculture farm but then sold up. OBO has gone gold mining. Faye and Dave are still around now and then. Food & Fish and Stuart are still active, actually Stuart went AWOL for some period but has now made a come back. Aquamad, EllKayBee and Kuda also only dropped of the scene a few years ago. Mantis only recently stopped posting. Ron is flying up the list. Bull is still here and Duff hasn't been around for quite some time. Scotty is 21 so he'll be in soon. Even if you go the next 20 or 40 most stop posting only a few years ago.

Most of those top posters are from an era, 2006 - 2007 when backyard AP was becoming known and explored by a wider community through the BYAP forum. Some of those names go back even further to the old Speraneos email discussion list (S&S Aquafarm) back in 1997 by Paula and Tom = http://www.i55mall.com/aquaponics/

If you look through some of the topics and discussions over 2 decades ago they are much like the conversations we still have now, its often a repeated teaching/learning cycle with new comers. Its very rare something new is discovered.

Bcasey that list is top posters in order regardless of date of membership. They are just numbers really and hold no merit really. Most of my posts are complete rubbish lol

Kuda is still around but not posting or visiting much.

He has been doing other stuff but he regularly sees Jaymie, Axl, C1, Me and others in a non forum context.

Charlie I would have loved too had the chance to meet Steve, when I first started aquaponics I found that he also lived in Glenroy and he could have even been a neighbour, it would have been handy to get advice first hand from someone with his knowledge.

I PM him once but he had moved on at that stage.

He was top of the list with 25,000 odd posts but no longer a member so it doesn't show in the list anymore.

Chance to pull out some of the rarely used smileys...

I guess that means were doing around 4000 posts a month, or 1000 a week at the moment.
