I think cookie could be right,does the growing tip of the plant die off ? followed by the rest of the plant ? Do these plants have any roots ? by that i mean is root growth very poor ?

Thanks! I was actually thinking potassium deficiency because of my short roots and leaf necrosis. Thanks for the iron tip and all of your help.
