dont worry too much about flood & drain - it really comes from much earlier posts where you said...(below).. and it was suggested to try something simple first off.

" Im mainly doing this as a trial system and a proof of concept to show my parents!"

your initial basic barrel system has pretty much developed into a full-blown CHIFT PIST barrel setup.
If that is to be the case then best to start focusing on how the various CHIFT PIST barrel people set their systems up.

there are lots of posts on these types of systems in various threads.
search 'CHIFT PIST barrel'

your schematics all look pretty OK so far.

Thank you Darren for everything . You have been very patient with me and you have explained everything extremely well.
I decided i am going to take a few days to come up with a more detailed and finalized design. I will post it here .
Again thank you

Hello everyone
Its been a long time since i have updated the thread.
I've made some brilliant progress with my system . I decided that its too much to update in a day or two so I will be posting an update every day or every two days.

So lets start of with the final design plan .

So ive finally settled for a CHOP setup. Its a CHIFT PIST system.
The final design plan consists of

2 Fish tanks ( 750 liters each)
2 sump tanks ( 650 liters each)
4 grow beds
The pump is the one of the sumps and the sumps are interconnected.

looking good, from what I see here you basically have 2 CHIFT PIST systems working together so I have a suggestion.

Since you are running 2 FT and 2 sumps I would suggest maybe just running 1 to start with and then eventually just duplicating the system next to the old one. my explanation for this idea being that for anything (especially if you are trying something new) I never put all my eggs in one basket, also you could run to sp. of fish thus finding out which is easier, hardier, faster growing, tastier ect. :thumbleft:

also you can spend half the money on proving the concept as for a proof of concept build i'm worried that a CHIFT PIST like this would be a complicated enough endeavor without adding significantly more mass to the system.

not telling you what to do as i'm new and just setting up my 1st system myself but hey food for thought. :dontknow:

Good Luck and Im keen to see some more updates mate. keep us posted :headbang:
