Thought I would share a system that I've been wanting to build for ages. The brief was to make it look good so I hid the pipe work in the back thin box.
Current fish are named - Arctic, Fin, Whisky, Saturday, Spot and Stripe.

I'm trialing the skylight directly above it - the top pot will probably do okay for leggy lettuce ;)

I might try very low light edibles like shiso and miners lettuce. We'll see.

Might end up having a fern or something in the bottom 2 pots

Will be watching your results with interest.

I have a 2nd system that's effectively indoors... lighting it with mix of LED and compact fluorescents. It's running OK... not quite as productive as my outdoor system much of the time. Anyway, I wanted to grow some miner's lettuce in the shady corners of the grow bed. But I couldn't get them to get beyond a sort of microherb stage in seedling mix - so unable to plant them in my clay ball growbed.

Will be getting a crash course from google on shiso shortly. And will watch out for some tips on miner's lettuce.

Very helpful... Thanks

I made a briefer list when I started and there's a fair bit of overlap. I've found that mint and watercress do very well. Kang kong grows well in shade and full sun - it's great!

I would only add Lebanese cress and Japanese parsley... both doing very well in the less well lit sections of my small indoor growbed.

Will be hunting for shiso seeds - imagine seedlings are rare - when I'm next at the nursery.

I contemplated planting mushroom plant. I like mushrooms but when I sampled some at the local markets, I didn't go for it. Not unpleasant but mushroom tasting leaves didn't feel quite right.

Hiya Jay, makes more sense using ornamentals I think. Looks good. What feed do you use for the fish?

Plants haven't wilted yet :)

The problem I was having with lettuce and seeds were they went leggy.

I'm feeding the gold fish, tandus, and bass - ground up skreeting
