Are you shooting for constant flood with the media beds?

I had planned on running both media beds with bell siphons. After getting the first one installed I have since considered running the second bed as continuous flow.

For science!

Yea our rebuild will probably go to a proper CF as well.
How did your week end go?
Did you get it all sorted out?

Because of illness I was unable to get nearly as much done last week as I had anticipated. On Saturday I ended up having a huge work party and several of the guys that showed up were professional landscape installers with a lot of paver experience. They assembled a crew of worker bees to shovel sand, ferry pavers and then proceeded to get the majority of the floor installed in the short time they were there. Many hands make light work.

I also spent some time on Sunday hooking up the other media bed and got it flowing as well as revising the plumbing for the pump.

Next up are the filters and then water should be flowing throughout the entire system. Still haven't heard from the electrician which is making me nervous. He's not keeping the system from running so it's not that big of a deal. He just needs to finish up the lighting and the mounting of the ballasts and control box.

Cheers!

I wish it were appropriate to share frothy libations with the people I work with. This particular group of volunteers were from a young adults church group (18-25). The vast majority of the people that I work with are usually minors with court assigned community service hours. Much like the movie Holes if you've ever seen it.

Pretty good.

The well water I have to use was off the scale ph wise. Probably around 8. I have taken my sweet time getting it adjusted down to just under 7. I've also been maintaining very low levels of ammonia to get the system cycled and have added small amount of iron and seaweed extract to give the plants I have in the system a bit of nutrients. I'll probably get some fish in the next week or 3 now that the water temps are stable above 55F and the system has cycled.

I've been experimenting with some seed starting to see what media rinses off the roots best prior to the starts going in my "grow grips". I decided not to use rockwool cubes because they don't fit well in my rafts and are expensive. I still haven't finished the floor and the electrician still hasn't been back to button up the lights. Such is life.

A pic from last Saturday:

Cheers!
