Go with the irrigation clamp.

I have used zip ties to hold things i have built together in ponds, they break down with no warning.
It may take a few years, but they do not lose their colour, they do not look brittle, but you will touch it one day and it will simply fall off.

Zip ties do not stand up to being submerged for long periods..... more expensive zipties may fare better.

Where are you getting your fingerlings from?

Fingerlings are coming from Bundaberg mate.
They will be shipping them on Monday hopefully.
Good to know that they should be right as far as weather is concerned. :thumbright:

No I didn't even know they existed, handy to know for future reference though.

I purchased mine from livefish.com.au 25 x 5cm Fingerlings for $60 delivered.

That is a good price for 25 delivered for future reference http://www.seqfish.com.au. Would be interested in know size and condition when you receive them. Cheers

Check with them what the PH of their water is and make sure yours is the same.

Ok, so after all my fish died, and having ordered another 25 Jade Perch which will arrive on Wednesday, I've done a bit of a clean and salted the system. I have rebuilt the Floating Raft in the DWC. As well as harvest the majority of the GBs. The question is, what to grow next??

While I have had great results with Basil in the DWC, the lettuce did very poorly, any advice as to why this was? I've also been contemplating putting an air stone in the DWC, any thoughts on this?

All the fish have arrived in good health and ranging from 4-5cm. Overall impressed with the service.

Can't hurt to put air in the DWC thats for sure.... Lettuce often don't do well if it's too warm, they can bolt, though I believe some varieties are better suited to warmer conditions.

Matthew i am by no means a expert on growing lettuce in DWCs,but i have found most of my problems have been temperature related,we are still in our cold season here with my water temp at 18/20c air temp mid afternoon of 33c with good results but as the water temp starts rising, growth slows, they get go lank will bolt easily and generally are poor, water temps got up to 32c in the last hot season and with high air temps everything suffered.
I would add air i feel there real benefits, especially as water temps go up.

My lettuce growth has slowed massively since it's warmed up too. :(

But basil and the like seem to grow faster.

Ok cheers for that fellas, I've gone ahead and planted out some butter leaf lettuce and some basil in the DWC. Hopefully with the weather heading towards Autumn we should start to see some good lettuce growth. I've added the air pump, just waiting for the stone to arrive in the mail.
