No they seem to be fine so far. There have been a couple of orb weavers hanging around so maybe they are keeping on top of things for me.

Bye bye fence! We went out for 45 minutes and came back to that. I'm kind of glad we weren't home to be honest. Lucky I am lazy and hadn't put the chicken coop up there otherwise they'd be mush.
We affectionately called our chicken and turkey yard, Fort Turken. In order to keep predators it was built like a brick out house. Predators finally won anyway. Lazy has its positives

These are the luckiest little citrus trees in the world. They have been shredded by bugs, are stunted and small and now had a second tree limb fall right between them, but somehow they have avoided being taken out. I didn't even think the little Nagami Cumquat on the right was still standing until the branches were cleared!

In other news it's funny how noticeable the plants in GB 2 are showing signs of deficiency compared to GB 1, purely based on how many fish were in the tanks and the resulting poop being produced. I've decided to move all of the trout into Tank 1, to free up a tank for the SP when I get around to getting some, and to see how the plants go if I give them a bit of Powerfeed or similar without having to worry about the fish.

Strung up a few more tomato plants today, I really should have done it ages ago though, they are so overgrown. Can't wait for them to ripen though!

The pear tomatoes got a bit scratched as they were sitting right on the gravel but hopefully they'll be ok now they are up off it.

Yup, still have about 7-8 trout left, I've moved them all into the one tank together so the other is free for some Silver Perch, which I need to organise soon as the plants connected to the empty tank are getting a bit deficient.

There are photos of the system as I was setting it up, page 3 is probably best for picturing it viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20565&start=30 You just have to pretend that I haven't been lazy and have put the capping and lids it though, hehe :D Somewhere a few pages back there should be a photo of the half-finished shadehouse too.

I haven't gotten around to getting down there yet, life getting in the way and all that! But hopefully soon as possible. I can't wait to try some new fish!

Thanks for the positive feedback, I really appreciate it!

Lookin good Azira, my last 5 had stopped eating for the past two weeks until the day before yesterday.
Tossing up whether to spare them and see them into a second season just for fun, or to take them as they are and grab another crop of fingerlings in April.
Are your trout from Ballarat?

Mine were forced to stop eating a couple of weeks ago because I ran out of food, lol. I thought given the hot weather and lack of food I'd have pulled them out, but the water temperature didn't get too extreme and a friend brought around some food so they live to swim another day, haha. I will be pulling some out to smoke soon, I might see how long the small ones can survive for until next trout season, just for curiosity sake more than anything.

I got them from the Ballarat Hatchery and will be getting another batch from them too, most likely in April also depending on water temps. I wish the Hatchery was a bit closer, I'd love to volunteer there, it'd be so interesting!

I've heard trout love to jump especially at feeding time. Would you agree this is true? I can't wait to see them thrashing in my pond
