Hey cookie, I just got done reading your entire thread. Thank you for sharing all of the findings you have made and the literature you and swede have posted.

Q: when you reintroduce the decomposed waste from your offline MT are you feeding it directly into your GB?

well it eventually goes into the GB.. but I feed it into my RFF which then flows into a media filter than the water flows into the GB just incase I reintroduce solids it will be trapped in the filters first

Ok that's what I thought. I'm thinking about trying this with the dwc, nft, bato bucket system I'm building. Is this process mostly just beneficial for fruiting plants or have you seen a real benefit for leafy greens as well?

Cookie, I tried to VERY slowly to add 2 gallons of settled was back into my 5 gal RFF. It stirred the crap already in the RFF. I stopped and just dumped it directly into fish tank. There were no visible solids so in the fish tank it wet.

Cookie,

Isn't this experiment basically the Kratky Method with oxogen added, if you are only using MT water?

I dont know who is Kratky but to me the MT only system which mind you didn't have any nutrients in due to the largest algae bloom I ever saw, is performing as well or even better than the system I supplemented with magnesium.. calcium and potassium.. Im so concince in such a short space of time that I want to drop the EC on my big system from 1000 uS/cm to 400 uS/cm... a more than half cut.. currently expermental system is EC 590 and climbing for itself.. I'm stunned in hows thats possible with only MT additions..

What is you nitrate levels currently?
Check out waterfarmers aquaponics on Facebook. They recommended 160ppm nitrates for growth and 120ppm for fruit set.

I grew cantaloupe, okra and some small peppers on 160++ nitrate levels. My cantaloupe and okra would bloom like crazy when adding mt water.

I have plans to split out flow from RFF. Take bottom outlet and route solids constantly to MT, MT overflow into AP system via a filter constantly. This I was told is very similar to Paul's home system

Or now that I think of it.. Why not direct slow flow from fish tank into a large mt directly and from there via a sieve filter to netting tank.. Constant MT water added back to system.. He he he this may just work

Swede,

Didn't either you or Cookie already experiment with an "online" MT already?

I did for a very short time but it was seriously flawed for a million reasons.
