What time of day is that measurement F&F?

Water temp varies throughout the day, quite a lot for small systems and even significantly for large systems, see my system thread for continuous plots of air and water temp at 1 min intervals.

Yeah I'll be keeping an eye on mine today. It will be an interesting test as this is the hottest day I've had since setting my system up.

Hi FF,
That's bad juju, i know the feeling.
25DegC this morning at 9.00am, the highest we have ever had.
We culled 12 last night for safety, and there are only 8 littlies in there now.

Good luck to you!

Just checked and I'm sitting at 22°C already.

That's the hottest the water has ever been and it's only just gone 30°C outside. Not looking forward to the rest of the day, it's crazy windy outside already, and here I was thinking the wind would only really kick in later today when the cool change comes through.

22.7°C as of right now, 1.45pm.

Sitting at around 38°C at the moment with maximum expected to be 42-44°C at 3pm-ish. But I'm not sure what's going on with the weather at the moment, we just got a severe thunderstorm warning; more damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rain!

Silly weather, it doesn't know what it wants to go. Mind you that's nothing new, lol.

Trout seem content at the back of the tank where the GB inlet and air stones are, so fingers crossed everything goes ok today.

23.6°C at 5.50pm.

Cool change should be on us soon so I think that will be about as high as it gets. It didn't get to the forecast high so I think that has helped a bit, only ended up just shy of 40°C.

I wouldn't like to see how hot it gets if we get a few days over 40°C in a row!

My Fish Tank temperatures today: 03/01/2015

7.00am 26.1C

12.50pm 28.7C Air Temp 35.9C Essendon Airport

2.45pm 28.3C Air Temp 37.9C Essendon Airport

4.45pm 28.8C Air Temp 37.5C Essendon Airport

5.45pm 28.9C Air Temp 37.1C Essendon Airport

Putting frozen milk bottles in 2,000 litres of water did absolutely nothing and the lasted 5 minutes at the most, hosing the shade cloth and the odd few litres of cold water from the hose was a far better option.

Interesting two days here. Yesterday the outside temp by my system maxed out at 43C with a tank temp of Max 26C. Today the outside temp maxed at 38C and the fish tanks again at 26C. If I can keep the tanks at that max and no higher I will be happy. Early days....

With all these different methods for cooling tanks being pondered I wonder if something inspired by a clay pot cooler/mud basket fridge etc would work. Probably not but it might be fun to experiment!
