Its nice to see that you change the wood growbeds for those plastic ones.

Nothing bad about the wood, but I make a similar setup to yours, using that polyethylene plastic, tough it would work but sooner or later you get holes in the plastic and its a mess.

Learn the lesson and get a thicker plastic (1mm PE liner) and works great.

But those plastic beds looks great and the system overall.

Thanks All. The aluminum comes on one side of the foam board and it's not actually in the water, I figured it'd kinda reflect light back up to the plants. What foam would be best for rafts?

Clean and simple polystyrene its ok!, some people use insulation foam, but its not always a good idea because some of them have additional chemicals (Like compunds to avoid termites) and they degrade with UV easily.

Polyesthyrene with plastic, paint or similar in the sun side works ok for me, and the aluminum its a good idea if you avoid the contact with water.

Foil one side... OK.... that should be OK. IMHO...
Not sure that it would make a big difference to temperatures, as the foam would likely be completely insulating..
I indeed think an additional benefit... LIGHT reflection = better growth.. :headbang:
