Dash, thanks for the graph.

Swed, thanks for the reply. But for the life of me, I can not see your top drain. Can you post a picture of the top drain leading into the RFF? I see your SLO.

The SLO feeds into the RFF. See in that picture you can see the 2" tee to the left in the trash can.. I am not at home so unfortunately these are the only pics I got right now.

So far ok. Only problem as mentioned is that solids seem to settle somewhat in the line leading to RFF. I probably should have downsized pipe to 1/2" to increase velocity through pipe. But I didn't have any 1/2 uniseal

If were to redo this I would make a bottom drain and not a SLO. But it's much easier to install a SLO with a tank full of fish. Btw this is my learning system so I will use it to experiment before building my larger system

U can always try to reduce the 3/4 to 1/2 on the outside of the tank.. you should get back your velocity that way.

Yep. In fact right now I have a 1" flexible hose on the outside. I Will change to 3/4". If that doesn't work I Will go to 1/2". Problem is still that once it goes inside the RFF it has to be 3/4 with this current build. This is why it's good to experiment first and build right later :)

Cookie,

At least 2 of us. LOL By the way since you did not think that there could be too much flow through a DWC. I have decided to experiment a little with my build. Originally I was going to build 2 identical side by side DWCs. Just shy of 4 x 16ft (1.21 x 4.87m) Since I am now going to up the flow, I am going to make it 1 big DWC. With 3 inlets and a weir type outlet.

Cookie, I have a question about my MT tank. It recently went anaerobic...I think. It's a kind of tan color...unlike the normal dark brown, and has a terrible sulfur smell. I was aerating for the past week, and it didn't seem to matter. Should I drain out what's in it and start again? I added a small heater to get the temp up to around 75F, and then it started to smell even worse. I moved it outside the GH, couldn't stand the smell anymore. Just curious what your recommendation would be. Thanks! I haven't tested anything in it since it started smelling so bad...about 2-3 days now.

Coach,
Read this whole article about time for wasting when color of sludge turns dark. http://www.environmentalleverage.com/Worms.htm
