Its neutral i tested it myself, i guess any suggestions for me though besides painting my Fish tank

Did you let the media set for 24hrs before you tested the media? How did the top up water test?

Yeah the media set for a while then i used the vinegar test on it. The top of the water tested 8 +

Ok so there is your culprit. The water you introduced into the system. Do you have another water source you could use?

Then you are probably going to have to lower the ph before you introduce the water into the system. Just do a search for lowering ph.

Hydrochloric acid, add it to your top up water. Give it a few days to sit, and add away. It's pool acid, and really cheap.

Muriatic acid...same thing. Getting harder to find around here. Pool stores and Home Depot still carry. Don't get the Environgreen stuff. It's more expensive and so diluted you have to use way too much to lower your PH.
