I just noticed the bed seems to be transparent is this so?

if the light gets on the media below the water line you may get a algae problem and also it will impede nitrification.

apologies if this has been already addressed.

She has mentioned cladding for it a few times. I had the same concern, but noticed that she has plans. Just a matter of finding the right spouts to put on said cladding.

Gah stupid tapatalk - I did reply to this last night. Or tried to at least.
Yep it will be clad, but OH keeps upping and offing for work and leaving me short a pair of hands for that sort of caper.
I am feeding up the 6 yr old to add some child-slavery to the mix, but I'm not seeing the growth I would like... Perhaps I need to switch pellets?

The cladding will go on as soon as I can get it done, then I can spend as long as I like on making my pretty spouts (hence those long tubes coming out - it needs to clear the cladding). I was amazed at how quickly the algae appeared, so I want to get it covered up ASAP.

If I throw some worms in there, will they tidy up the dead algae (since I'm hoping the stuff there will die when it has no light)?

Also, it might be my imagination, but when I went outside this morning I am SURE that the seedlings from last week look bigger in the last few days.

I don't bother with tapatalk, found it much easier to navigate the forum as per normal. That may just be me hesitating evolution though.

;)

Yea, I find tapatalk pointless to. I am not going to browse the forum on a phone. I have tablets for that. Why it tries to intrude on my tablet experience is beyond me.

I just installed it because Android google play suggested it, not thrilled with it, in fact I don't get what it is supposed to do or help with. The one thing it did remind me of was all the other forums I joined over the years as I learned new tech. Still I could navigate those anytime I want with a browser on the phone. I donno. Brian

I tried tapatalk, and I didn't like it. I thought it was easier to just navigate on my phone. I think it depends on your phone though, mine is pretty cool. It could be older phones are smoother with tapatalk.

It's annoying always getting suggested it when I come onto the forum on my phone though.

How's the paving coming Kat?

No time for a proper update, but growth has been good for 90% of plants. Feed rate is still slow while I monitor water quality with the warmer weather - slowly slowly will increase the feed.

Thanks guys :)

Dom's back on Sunday, so if I'm really lucky I might make a start on the cladding over my very short break!

I have a question though, anyone got any clues as to why I have about 4-5 little spinach plants that are looking very sad and stunted, while all their brothers and sisters are going gangbusters? I'm thinking maybe it's a water flow issue as they are very close to the sides of the bed..?
