Good policy - keep it simple.

I remember turning up at Toronto airport after a very heavy night out in little italy, very hung over, and walking into a cafe and ordered a burger and chips. I got a burger and a packet of crisps. Couldn't they see I needed grease!!! Worked out okay in the end. It meant I had something to put in my stomach when we were flying.

Why can't we all talk the same language. Here in Aus, we only get fries if we go to Macca's, otherwise its pretty much all chips. Deep fried or in a packet.

That's funny Doc.
We don't have crisps in South Africa, they are called chips. ;-)
Chips in packets like you got in the airport or potato strips deep fried, both are called chips but we know which is which due to the context.

Don't know if everyone knows what Macca's is either. Back home we often called it Mickey D's.

We also hear them called Pappas Fritas on the Latin menus. On a special occasion I might have lamb from New Zealand or Aus. And someone there is enjoying errrr consuming Mickey D's from my culture. And somehow after this exchange you're all still kind enough to share your AP info with us! God bless Merica.

Here it is called MacDonalds, unless it is advertising to an "urban" audience, then it is MickeyD's. On of the local Philanthropists that everyone chases after is Joan Kroc. The Krocs started MacDonalds. In fact I adopted my cat from the Kroc family animal shelter. ( I found her as a stray, and took here there to give her owners a chance to claim her before I kept her for myself)

Something does not settle with me about the MickeyD's animal shelter. But I'm happy the cat found a good home WITH FISH!

Sorry for lowering the tone of your topic and mentioning the BigM. Hopefully it won't deteriorate into an argument about corporate mongrels, slavery, poverty, world doom and gloom!

I congratulate you on picking up a pet from an animal shelter. I'm sure they will be getting heaps of unwanted chrissy presents in the new year. That is now where we get our dogs from.

I made the same joke when I heard the name of the animal shelter. Interestingly, they have a great success rate in finding homes, and don't euthanize.

Ron,

:wave1:
May I ask what your water temperatures in your backyard FT run during the whole year?

First post after years of lurking here. Hopefully moving back to San Diego very soon. Was wondering about your temp range with view of what fish might be possible to stock in costal region without taking more temperature control measures.

First off, well done! So many topics.

OK,so grave digger isnt in your career plans I can see.
Daisy dukes, very cool, just not on the Walmart crowds.

Why AP the trees and grapes? You live in one of the premier areas for dirt farming,I would utilize that and optimize beds for veggies.Same story,my grapes tried to produce first year, and second were seriously on their way....in dirt.

The asian pear, not surprised yours died. They grow great here, and we get several freezes.Helped a guy with an asian pear grove trim his,he cut off 2/3rds of verticals and said they produce on the last years growth, not the new stuff. He had fine production,so thats what I learned?

Surprised you survived powdery mildew,it gets me every single time, still trying to beat it but had to pretty much just give yet,yet neighbor 2 blocks over has zero issue. What was your cucumber secret?

The ladybug hotel, still open? MUST try that, genius!

Your fish success, crazy good! So many folks have issues,so far Im like you, havent seen any disease issue, those salton sea guys......they are awesome, thanks for that info.

LOVE the daughter pics, what a little cutie, and the angry cat surfing web,too funny!

Oh,friend with deep water says trick is oxygen oxygen and more oxygen....yet he decided the media beds were just less trouble and just as good and dumped the raft parts, not sure where I will go on that,I have one bed to try rafting in,we will see.

WTG Ron,well done!
