Oh and I've plumbed in my rff and my fishtank so at this stage I've got water flowing ft>slo >rff>gravel gb>mini sump>ft.

ultimately pump will be in my full ibc sump in the ground.

Plumbed in my in ground sump, so now my flow is

Big sump > FT > RFF > GB > Settlement Sump > Overflow to Big Sump

I've also just done a water test and my ammonia and nitrites are now at 0. Officially cycled. Off to send Rupe a pm to see where my trout are at :P

went to a bait shop and asked for 20 live yabbies... at 80c a pop I figured may as well.

Got them home and counted them out into my settlement sump and ended up with 25 yabbies. My 2yo was super excited about them... it was cold and raining and he wanted to sit out looking at the yabbies in the water.

When I finally took him inside he said yabbies sleep now.

Chucked in some bits of pvc to try and have them not eat each other too quickly.

Decided to do a spot of fishing.

I've started the move. Decided to move the SP into the sump with the goldfish, and disconnect the FT. Pump at the old place is pumping into the GB and then draining into the sump.

The FT from the old house is now at my new house and will be pressure cleaned and plumbed into the system in the morning.

Fish are moved... netted them into an eski, drove them to my new place, poured a bit of water into it from my new system to equalise pH then tipped the buggers in.

Now I have a small dripping leak around my SLO in my trout tank. I'll need to bypass the SLO via a pump and effect a repair. Such fiddly stuff this aquaponics business.

On a side note those trout are dirty little buggers, keep pooping in my fishtank and not even eating that much. I'm glad I put the RFF in now. I'd hate to see how much they poop at full size and eating 7mm feed.

Hey peeps,

I haven't updated in ages so... system is now 3 growbeds and 2 fish tanks, I currenly am on my last attempt for SP as I had the last lot all die.

Winter is awesome for trout. I missed the first order in Feb but I'm going in for 50 trout. I grew 42 on 2 growbeds and in a single tank last year. A fair few above 600 grams

If the perch die again this winter then I'll probably just get some goldfish to keep things ticking. Long term plans are to put a cover over the system but finances are putting a break on that for the time being.

Plant production was mediocre over this winter but I'm a horrible brown thumb. I have a feeling my consistently high pH of 8 is a problem. Working on lowering it.

Happy to catch up with anyone doing aquaponics south side. pm me
