I think people feed them the same native pellets they use for Silver Perch and the like. From what I read people have got them on the floating variety, which tends to be better for keeping an AP system clean and tidy.

Hi Bentaz,

Azira is right! I have both tandannus catfish and SP's in my AP system, and they thrive on the same food. Currently using Skretting Nova ME sinking fish food.
Used Skretting Nutra in the smaller sizes(1.2, 1.8 and 2.3 mm) when the fish were smaller.

Well, it is time to bite the bullet and make an order, from SKRETTING!

I spoke to one of their staff who was more than happy to help

I intend to order the following:

Nova FF 3mm and 5mm floating - for trout
Nova ME 3mm slow sinking for natives
Nutra RC 1.2mm for fingerlings

While these come in 20/25 kg bags, I am happy to package out in smaller quantities, because I understand that the large bags can be "inconvenient" for us small guys. You may have seen my system featured on BYAP as "Iceman's Parents System"

More details to follow regarding pick up/postage and costs to break down from the bulk bags.

Aquaponics is on the move, and the more we can do to help each other, the more cost effective we can be.

If I receive enough support, I am prepared to help supply fish food on a regular basis, in quantities that match the needs of the backyard systems.

Ian

Hi Ian,

Are you still supplying fish food? I have just started up my first system and should be ready for trout fingerlings towards the end of March, which means I need to get some fish food too.

Cheers

Jo

Hi Ian, are you still actively supplying the product from Skretting? Using your email address I was able to find your facebook page but there hasn't been any activity since Oct 2014.

https://www.facebook.com/idealfishfeed

Is anyone else supplying in or near Melbourne?

Just PM Ian via his FB page. I am picking up some Skrettings from him this weekend. He will still have several kilos in stock.

Hi Sammo,

Yes, I'm still selling the fish food. Not much of a social media user unfortunately.

Either PM me here, or on FB.

Thanks Joc and Colum for the recommendation.

- Joc, See you on Saturday. Iceman will be there if you want to meet him and have a chat about AP.

Very helpful post. My supplies were dwindling so I checked out Ian's facebook link.

Ian dropped by with 20kg for my Cod today. Sorted.

Cheers,
DD

Hi DD,

It was good to meet you today, and have a look at your setup. . .....Absolutely brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone wants to see how aquaponics can be the focal point of a courtyard garden, just have a look at DD's system by clicking his link above.

Ian
