Hello
Going slow but getting there.
Mainly building after work. Will try and finish the frame this weekend and then cover it with a mix of wood and synthetic grass during next week. Decided on a glass fish tank since it will not get any direct sunlight so algea should not be a problem :dontknow:

Hey Bam Bam,
that looks really good can't wait for the next installment.
Are those treated SA pine battens you've used?
If so make sure the water does not come into contact with them.
They have got cyanide and lots of other nasty kak in them that's bad for the fish.

Hey the link to the bike aquaponics thread is here:

Good day all
Thank you for the feedback
SB yes totes looks good. Filled them with hydroton and water and they only bulge a little on the long sides
Will make a plan
Mr P I hear you. Was a concern but wood will be treated and not near any water. (Should I do more?)

Murphys law
When you can not sleep at night thinking of how you are going to attack the AP build tommorow they phone you 06:00because there is a major breakdown and being the good guy (read not on standby) that you are......you help till 14:00.
So hopefully photo attaches itself of what I have been doing between the Currie Cup final and the fire for the braai .although it looks like "what is this guy doing" it will make sense in time I hope.
BTW Mr P where did you get the IBC and if I may ask how much?
Good day to all.

Long while since I last posted. Daddy bought a new toy so been busy. (See photo attached) Got to work on the AP project . A few photos. ((I know its Pine and there is a lot of nasty s#*t in it but it will be sealed and no water will come into contact with it)) Can not get some one to build a 120L glass fish tank custom build with a hole for the SLO to go through. Will use a 210L drum (cut to size)with window to see the the little poop machines with fins. Enjoy!!!

Slowboat I changed the 3 little square totes (120L) for 3 oval totes (150L). They are more robust (for lack of a better word)

1000l of Hydroton, if you don't mind me asking, what did that cost?
Best price I could find down here was R450 ($45)/50l that's R9000 ($900)

Hello all
Photos so far of NFT. Still a way to go. Will get there someday.Still need to do pipe work ,cut holes for net pots and finishing off on outside box. NFT is boxed in but will be easy to remove for cleaning/inspection.
Luckily I am a patient man

Hello
Some advice please
Decided to build GB. Plastic totes can be used somewhere else
Space available is 5feet long, little bit more than 2ish feet wide and 1feet high.
1 1 big GB (5×2×1feet)
2 2 GB (2, 5×2×1feet)
3 2 GB which is - 5 feet long×1feet wide×1feet high (side by side).
FT will be 150 liter(40 gal)
Total GB volume around 250 liter (66 gal)
Except for DWC dont know of media beds thats long and narrow
If someone is using no3 above please let me know :dontknow:
Thank you :wave1:
