I've been getting good results with the oasis horticubes for some things like lettuce, basil, coriander, cress and stuff but almost nothing for toms, caps and the like.

Tried raising the levels over the four beds to no avail. Yeah I need to look into those Stu. I've got Growgrips on order too for the DWC tanks... Need to slow down on AP, budget for that area definitely blown!

Yeah I spent surprisingly not much on the move/setting up new system, but am out of fittings (lots of "improvising when I hooked up DWC tanks ahaha), need shade cloth, really want an air pump, more fish (though Jades are unavailable at moment), I want to build a RFF, and the list goes on.

It never ends ahaha

I do have to apologise for all the spelling mistakes!

Dont go cheating on us at other forums Casey. You better be posting those photos here first. :headbang:

This is probably a dumb newb question, but I would think you could use even something like wet paper towel on the surface to hold those seeds on the top. I know there are a ton of plug like products and wool or cotton media pads. Most of those seeds just need 2-3 days to pop, especially if you are soaking them well before you sow them. We used "Grow pads" for like pieces of cotton pad and the roots go right out the bottoms.

Re seed germination - I also think it might be temperate based - water is cooler than dirt and seeds need heat. Or it could be bugs eating them

That's alright Pond Sucker, always posting here first I promise, this is where I got my leg up so no turning back now. There's business reasons behind it ahaha.

Yeah guys I'm going to keep experimenting. No shade over GB could be an issue too I think?

I tried propagating beans and peas wrapped in a square or tissue paper. The next day and the day after I found the bits of tissue paper on top of the GB. Went a long way to explain why they weren't germinating in the GB.

THE RATS WERE EATING THEM :upset:

With the oasis horticubes I have to use a heat mat to get things going in a reasonable time frame. It is just too cold here to do otherwise. For example I think I'll be lighting the fire again today. We did last night and I think it was a mistake to let it go out :(

I also use a heat mat under my soil propagation for toms, cucs, and everything. Has worked very well for toms and cucs, ok for egg plant and capsicums but I haven't managed to get a chili to sprout yet. :(

Will do.

I got them from Craig from Western Aquaponics (who's IceManDude) on the forum, he's the Aussie distributor and just got them in. $30 for 25 of each including postage. Would have been less if I got more but want to check them out.
