Just wondering if anyone here has a decent way of controlling earwigs on gb's.

i have them literally in the millions this year and have yet to find a control measure thats ap safe other than flooding my gb's and physical removal.

Any and all tips and tricks greatly appreciated.

Jarrod.

Perhaps a vacuum cleaner could be used? Use a suitable mesh filter on the nozzle, sized to let them through, but not your media.

Just make sure you dont let them near your ears! ;)

Try a beer trap like you would for slugs. Or mix up your own, using yeast, flour, sugar and water.

I give you the most and best suggestions and you mention me last?

Preying mantis's are your best long term bet against the earwigs and other bugs and if you have aphids or other small bugs then I'd go with lady bugs.

But don't swarm your system with both at the same time because then you will have a turf war between the two over the earwigs.

But you can have not at same time just not too many.

I started from the bottom and worked my way up, tis just the order, not personal :thumbright:

Ill look into the praying mantis, along with stuarts suggestion of lacewing larve, to be honest i havent seen a praying mantis in years, they seemed to become extinct here a few years back. Would be good to have a few around again, they were always facinating to watch.

I havnt any issues with aphid, just the darn earwigs and the odd swarm of 116 million sparrows which my son made the solution to that issue yesterday, see system thread.
