Im guessing the infection is effecting/spreading throughout the batch of trout. This may have started many weeks ago but is evolving and spreading.

Stop feeding.

I think your at a point where you need to take drastic action or you may loose the lot. There are a couple of ways you can go about this.

Either remove any effected and treat them in a hospital tank with salt to 10-12ppt for approx 1or 2 hours every couple of days but sometimes this can be counter productive because the process of catching them and moving them can further stress levels so the only effective way to do this is to have them in a basket you can move them easily with. It also requires another tank.

Or.. treat your system with 10-12ppt. You'll prob loose plants but I think your fish are first priority here.

It's been about 7 weeks since my last post. Great news is that I haven't lost any more fish in that time and the remaining 3-4 seem yo be very healthy and growing.

All the levels are at 0, pH on last testing was 7.2. Salt at 3 ppt

Boeing only a few left I have only had ok growth in my veges.

Some veges have done really well, broccoli, snow peas, cos lettuce, spinach and celery.

Some have stayed alive, but barely grown, like my tomatoes and capsicums.

Some have just shrivelled and died, like beans, cucumber, rocket, zucchini.

Some pictures below, if anyone can give some advice sbout the various growing rates, that would be helpful.

Currently planning a second system for next autumn, SP will go into this one after the trout, and the second system for trout next winter.

We are going to Perth in March for a wedding, so I plan to visit BYAP, it'll be just down he road.

that tail rotting problem, I had exactly the same problem on some of my trout.

Check out my threads that i posted in. Some people had some discussion on it but i couldnt find anywhere what exactly it was...

SOme started to develop it, then looked like they got healthier, they were left with white scaring on their tails and sides.

I decided that this weekend was to be harvest weekend so I put my net in yesterday to get them used to it. Checked it this morning to fine one swimming around in the net, so he volunteered to be first. Image

Thanks for the question...

It's been doing quite well of late, but getting a little neglected from the new system I built earlier this year. Currently the MKI has 25 Silvers doing very little over the winter months. They will be transferred over to MKII (a 1500l CHIFT PIST System) once all of the trout get harvested in the next month or so.

In terms of vege's I've had great success with spring onions, silverbeet, celery, snow peasand bok choi from this system.

Unfortunately there must be a leak in the bottom of my GB and so the bottom is rusting out of the IBC base. This summer, once the Silvers have been transferred over, I will redo the system using some Blue Barrels (or yellow in my case) for grow beds.

Yeah nice. How are your temps going? Im not that far from G'town and being my first year with trout I keep stressing about the water temps as my fish are not big enough to eat yet.
glad its all going good for you :)

Temps are pretty good. I have a mate who deals with coolroom panels and he made a box to go over my fish tank with a lid, so I'm pretty hopeful I will be able to keep it down for a while yet. Ill just play it by ear and pull them out bit by bit
