We transplanted these seedlings into the GrowGrips in the DWC when they were 7 days old.

I bought heaps of tubes from a guy that didn't want them. Still have some 2metre & 3metre ones left over.

They are made from 100 x 50mm pvc downpipe, with 44mm holes on 110mm centres.

Holy cow! Whenever I show off my system people always ask me, "Where'd you learn about this stuff?!". Until now I always tell them 'Oh, the Australians are decades ahead of us on this stuff.' After seeing this one, I'm going to have to change that to Light Years ahead!

What an inspiration, thank you.

Hiya EEE, yep your system certainly looks great, well done. I like your grow grip usage, how do you purchase them here in Oz?

Iceman, your system looks great. Have you germinated seeds in the Grow Grips? I have been trying for over 2 weeks to germinate in a small dwc germination bed, but no luck. I can germinate in a media bed, in or out of the AP in 3-10 days...depending on seed type. Just curious if you had tried direct germination. So far for me, it hasn't worked well.

G'day skeggley

I purchased the GrowGrips from Western Aquaponics here in Victoria.

They are easy to use, reusable, and cost about $0.50 for small retail quantities

G'day coachchris,

So far I have tried lettuce, spinach and radicchio seeds in the GrowGrips.

Only the radicchio has been successful. Leaves appeared in two days! I will keep trying the others. We have found that germination rates of different varieties of lettuce vary from media to media, and even from flood and drain beds to constant flood beds - really challenging!

As shown in the photos, we have been germinating the lettuce seeds in coarse sand watered with system water. The batch above were transplanted 7 days after they were sown. The coarse sand drops off very easily. Today is another 7 days on, and I hope to post some more photos, to show just how well they are going.
