Of all the dangerous Australian creatures Kangaroos and their like are probably the most under rated in terms of danger.

The other risk in addition to being disemboweled would have been the thing grabbing you and then holding you under the water.

I don't think it would have done that deliberately, perhaps by trying to climb over me to get out- it desperately wanted to get out of the water and was in somewhat of a panic- always a danger with wild animals! There is an incredible amount of strength in their legs- quickly discovered when trying to hold onto them!
Once we got it out, it sat up right next to use for 10 or 15 sec as we waited for it to jump away, but it didn't move until I touched it on the back.

Talking to one of my neighbours after riding my mountain bike around his place this morning, on his previous property 3 men died from kangaroo disembowelment when he was young. My immediate next door neighbour has a long scar up his front from the same thing, but still has his intestines.

Kangaroos run into water not to escape dogs but to kill them. Kangaroo will stand in chest deep water and when the dogs get close it will grab them and hold them under the water until they drown.

GG - how big are your strawberries... I just can't get them like at the shops.. just the size of a finger section..

Tried gross feeding of the Grow-Wall (soil) ones, with composted Goat Poo, with slight improvement..

Mine only started producing large fruit once the salinity was down below about 400ppm. They did ok at ~1000ppm, but the fruit was small

Yesterday I put a thornless blackberry from a cutting in the space from a removed celery plant in GB#3, I'll have to hack the advancing strawberries back if they get too close, as they are popping out lots of runners in recent days.

The 1.5m tall celery gone to seed

I've pulled out some nice garlics in the past few days too, as they are just starting to send up the shoots that will turn into seed heads.
The tree onions look to be developing some bits that will turn into aerial tree onions too, the bulbs from the bottom end are quite large now and have been excellent in cooking, and don't make me tear up when cutting them :)
