Getting there...all trusses built except 1. ran out of nails and energy today.lol Should get trusses hung and sroof sheeted over next few days. Like the idea of the open floor plan, not sure I would have spent several days building trusses again. Nail gun went down after the first 2. There are appx 195 nails on each side of a truss. Almost 400 nails per truss. Quite a bit of hammering. I'll never bitch about framing a wall again. Promise.

I keep telling myself I saved $700.00. The difference between the cost of pre made trusses and materials. If you take into account labor, it's not much different. With nail gun, you can make 1 complete in about 13-15 minutes with lumber precut. Hand nailing/screwing takes twice as long.

Finished up trusses today. Framed in gable vent, and windows, Installed 6 x 6 post for last wall and door hanger. Picked up sheeting for roof. This is from up in the rafters. I was nailing off braces as trusses were raised into place.

Exciting times!

Why don't you just buy a nail gun? Surely it'll come in quite handy when you're building the AP systems as well. I'm sure there'd be lots on craigslist.

We had one, used it for about 2 trusses..then it went down. That was on Sunday, we finished 90% then. I have a finish nailer, and really don't do that much framing to warrant a 200.00 purchase.i don't really mind framing...even a house. Just not going to do trusses again.lol Although after 30 plus sheets of roofing, I may regret that last line. Still, less the 500 nails for the whole roof...that only 2.5 trusses.

Indeed sb. Set us back a full day. Sheeting today, and getting metal roofing panels tomorrow. Going to use them for siding and roofing. Cheaper and stronger then any other option I can think of. Shingles are $100.00 a square, metal is $66.00. I need felt paper for either. Going with Tivek for bottom siding, mainly because it's faster to install in 8' width then 3' paper. Cost is close. Hopefully the next pictures will be with roof sheeted and walls wrapped!

Finished fascia and about half of drip edge. Started putting 30# paper on. Finished all truss straps and bracing for walls. Lots more hand nailing.lol Problems getting with roofing supply guy today. Hopefully better luck tomorrow. Looking to roof and wrap over the next few days. Then all the ladder work will be done for a while, and just have siding to do. Also frame/hang doors, finish grading and leveling bottom block. Actually excited about digging tanks in and plumbing.

Roof is on. Expecting some rain tonight, so had to get it all done. Still need to set a bunch more screws, but all panels are down and edges are secure. Need to install gable ends and ridge plate and she'll be done. It's pretty tricky screwing the things down on a 4/12 pitch. Even with soft tennis shoes, it's still too slippery. We tied off a garden hose and used it. Someone has a picture of me repelling down the roof with screws and gun in hand.lol

A few pics of GH- It rained over weekend. I think it was God's way of saying "You need to take a break and watch some football." No screws got driven, but the roof is still waiting.

For some reason, new phone shows images very small? I'm sending to my email and then saving to desktop, but unless I up-size them first, they're small.

Getting close to having roof complete. Screwed about 600 screws down today. 1 side completely done, the other about 30%. Hope to finish other side tomorrow. Gable trim should be in next week...had to order it. Then 6 sticks of gable trim and 4 stick of ridge cap trim and the roof is done. Started on siding, it goes pretty quick, only need a step ladder to reach top of wall, rest you can get to standing. Windows are in, doors are framed.
To do: Finish roof, sheet/ hand doors, finish siding, trim. Run electric line from garage sub panel to fish house. Run wires for lights, and add receptacles for pumps and aerators. Install FT's, filters, plumbing, etc. Lots of work, and I need to get some more money in the AP fund...so back to my real jobs.lol

Oh yeah, I forgot, I still need to run about 100 3/4" stitch screws on "completed" side. Couldn't find the right size at roofing place, will try the big box store tomorrow. They're self tapping and shouldn't take too long.

Try and get some updated pics up. Just a building...no RAS or AP stuff yet. The wife says I have to "do something with it".
The sun reflects off the roof and is quite blinding from the living room. Even though it at least 100' away in the back/nursery part of the property. I may have to plant a few Red Cedars or something to screen it. Not too worried about that...easy fix.

Also, got some white fly killers for the GH! Hope they work.
