Hi all,
My name is Nathan.

And I have no idea what I am doing.....

I have an aquaponics system i made, pretty proud of it...but i am having problems.

I will need your help, if thats ok.

slow growth, dying fish, fungus, blood marks on fish, one has his mouth stuck open, started with 40 large gold feeders, down to about 15 in 4 months.

I thought my PH was stable, but one night it was 8.8+ and then 8 hrs later was down to 7.2, i have no idea.
checked LH and GH......
suddenly feeling a little lost in all this

Anyways, I will start a thread in the my system section with pics etc

ANY and ALL help will be appreciated.

PS: I want to contribute to this board as much as I will need help and contribution from others. Thanks in advance everyone

..
It's now some weeks since the call for help - How did you go..?

Is it a simple case of you put it all together and did not give it time to cycle..
eg... I think that I gave it about two months B4 seriously trying real fish and even then had a number die (but have ended with a number, more appropriate for my total system..)
..
.

Kind of sad how no one replied to this post in the beginning.. Even to just say welcome to the forum.

Yes, that would have been good. Not really enough information to try troubleshooting though and the posts have been rolling by very fast lately.

If I had to guess this was a combination of problems. The first thing that comes to mind is algae maybe causing the pH swings. Also possibly overstocked but no way to tell. There's plenty of stress from just the pH changes to encourage disease. Hopefully he did a search and found some suggestions from previous posts.
