I watched it yesterday as well, I think the show has some good points, but it is quite emotionally manipulative.

He mentions nothing about this:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-11/c ... od/5384678

If it's cheaper than the current waste fish-prawn meal, which it very possibly could be, I'm sure many factories will jump ship to that (which will solve the waste fish problem, or lessen it anyway). But even the current system there provides jobs for people in a country that doesn't have as as advanced of an economy, and a large wealth gap, the seafood industry there keeps masses of people employed, and thailand are very strict on their laws, so part of me doubts the problem is as bad as they made out.

We already have quite good seafood labeling guidelines, as a chef who's created menu's, it'd have been quite annoying to name the country of origin of the fish. You go to an modern Australian restaurant, put barramundi and then have to write on the menu that it's from Thailand, or go from $10 per kg for Thailand fillets, to $27kg for Australian fillets (and for a struggling restaurant, increasing the price that much isn't an option).

He's also implying the non MSR Australian prawns are bad, but doesn't venture into farming of them, or show anything about them.

I'm not saying he doesn't have some points, just it's full of manipulation, personal opinions and leaves out parts that don't contribute to the story he's telling.

How do you know the barramundi is from Australia?

At that price it is most likely from Vietnam. The Aussie grown barra is twice that price, and I happily pay the premium on the rare ocassions I buy it.

You would like to think so.
On the barra and silver perch (which has a spot on him much like a jade  ) sign , at the bottom is written , product of ..... I make it out to be Australia , but my eyes aren't real good....

Yea the barra sign is pretty fuzzy and hard to read, but I keep an eye on the prices when in the supermarket and aussie barra typically goes for $28-35/kg, and Vietnamese for about $15/kg. I can't imagine there's been a halving in price of the local fish recently!
